The pipes in particular do such a specific job that saves you time and having to remember to burp the bottles. The pebbles are great too and have a little indent to hold them. These pebbles were a better weight than other glass pebbles and I thought the design was better. I bought the smaller size to use in a widemouth jar as I read someone saying that it was really difficult to get them out. They did the job of keeping everything submerged, but I did use a large piece of cabbage leaf on the top before adding the glass pebble.
