TOTALLY LOVE
This machine is amazing! I have several very expensive machines including embroidery etc. but this is the best machine I have had for piecing, quilting, straight sewing etc. High speed and does what it does well. No needle or thread breaks - makes any kind of sewing on it TOTALLY a pleasure. Couple of comments: 1) It was difficult to understand which feet came with it. Mine came with the standard foot, zipper foot, free motion foot, and walker foot. The walker foot does not have the hole for inserting a guide rod - will have to look into that. 2) Deciding between the 2000 and the 2010. The 2000 only came with the standard foot and the walker foot. If you buy the zipper foot, free motion foot, it will cost about $86 for the two. The difference in cost on the two machines is $269 minus the two feet, it ends up being $183 different. What do you get for the $183? Worth it to me because this machine will last and be used for a long time. Main difference below. 3) If you free motion you will appreciate the slide for speed control... then you can floor it and know that you won't instantly go too fast to effect your stitch length. It really is nice to be able to control the speed depending on your project, and change it mid stream no problem. 4) The pretension - makes more flexibility for you on the kinds of thread and fabric you might like to use. I TOTALLY LOVE THIS MACHINE! Being able to sew, clip threads, raise and lower foot, etc. and have my hands free to control my sewing at the same time is wonderful. Just so great to have something so dependable and simple to sew with. I made two quilt tops the first two days and immediately jumped into free motion - all without getting stressed! LOVE IT!

If butter were a sewing machine, it would be a JUKI!!!!
I decided to upgrade my Brother Project Runway machine and order this Juki to have a more heavy duty industrial type machine. I did a thorough search including you tube videos and decided on this model. I make home decor items like pillow and purses with upholstery fabrics as well as other home sewing projects. I was looking for a machine that would sew well over heavy fabrics like jeans and layers of upholstery. I love the super fast albeit straight stitch of this machine. It's super simple to operate as it has no bells and whistles....just an awesome and fast straight stitch. The needle threaded takes some getting used to to get it to work, but once you do, its pretty good, but not necessary. There's a you tube video to help with that too. I broke the thread cutter on the first one I purchased and Juki replaced it very easily after I called and spoke with the nicest guy in tech support (I held the phone up to the machine so he could hear the noise it made). I broke the bobbin case on the second Juki, but again the vendor's tech support is super nice, patient, and sent me a new one, no problem. I love this machine!! It will glide over many layers of heavy fabric so easily. I probably need a walking foot machine for some of my super thick fabric layered projects, but otherwise this machine is great. Wish it had a zig zag foot, but I just use the old machine for this. Most of the parts are metal and will hold up well as opposed to a cheaper machine that is mostly plastic. I love the fast and slow options for stitching. You will still want various needles like jeans needles for heavier fabrics. This seller has been great to work with me when I had to return the first one and the price was very reasonable for the machine purchase.

Like Butter
I've had my Juki TL-2010Q for a couple of weeks now. I'm a quilter with years of experience in the past with garment sewing (although I don't do that anymore). I have a Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 which has a surprising amount of features for the price I paid 4 years ago. I've had some problems with the electronics, but other than that, it's been a nice machine. But I wanted to upgrade, and one of the main reasons was, I don't have the budget to send my quilts out to be long-armed, and I've become pretty good at free-motion quilting. The Singer just doesn't have a lot of throat room, and I thought I could improve my overall experience with a better machine. After months of research, I decided that instead of upgrading my electronic machine, I wanted a straight-stitch, more industrial type machine to use for piecing and free-motion work, with the intention of keeping my Singer for when I need zig-zag or other fancier stitches. I do applique and other projects that require that. I finally decided on the Juki TL-2010Q, and it is everything I hoped it would be. PROS: It sews like butter, so smooth, and the stitches are the most even I've seen. It's very solid and comes with an enormous extension table (almost twice as big as what came on my Singer). I've had an opportunity to use all its features, and the free-motion quilting allows me to do the best work I've ever done, with so much control, and with the additional help of the very large throat to allow me to stuff a bulky quilt in there. The threading of the machine is not super simple like it is on my Singer; but once I got the hang of it, no problem. It winds the most even bobbins I've ever seen - they are perfect. And is this machine fast - because of that, the speed control's a real help. Needle up/down is great, so is the ability to cut the thread in 3 different places, the foot pedal, the button on the front of the machine, and the thread cutter in back of the needle. The threading and side-load bobbin are no problem, especially if you have experience with older machines like I do. The Juki doesn't come with a huge amount of attachments, but I really think what comes with it is sufficient; and it's especially nice to get a real quality walking foot. CONS: The user manual is terrible, very little explanation with awful pictures. But there are enough videos on youtube for it not to matter much. As with most sewing machines, the lighting is dim, but I bought an led light strip which I attached underneath the throat area, and it is lit up beautifully now. That was an extra expense that was well worth it. My only real complaint is the needle threader. It took me a long time to figure out how to use it, and only after watching countless youtube videos over and over. The one on my Singer works like a breeze, so this one was very frustrating. I find that I still have a problem with it, as it sticks in the down position. I think I may have found videos on how to fix that problem, as others have encountered it, but I won't bother myself with that right now - I just thread the needle by hand. I know this was a long review, but when I was doing my research, I wanted to know specifics about the machines I was interested in. I hope I've helped someone else to make an informed decision. All in all, this is a dream machine. I bought it for a specific purpose, and it serves that purpose like a champ.

Love my Juki
The seller of my machine on Amazon was iShopTops, and they are a fantastic company to deal with. I had ordered a Juki TL-2010Q, and when I received the machine there was a note attached to the box stating that I had been upgraded for free to the TL-18QVP, which I was extremely happy about because as a bag maker who sometimes sews through many layers of vinyl, the TL-18QVP is the machine that I really wanted, but I hadn't wanted to spend the extra money. (All of the Juki TL Series are basically the same, but the TL-18QVP has the micro lifter, which floats the presser foot above thicker layers of fabric.) There was a problem with the machine, however, in that the knob for changing the presser foot pressure was extremely tight and almost impossible to turn. I contacted iShopTops and they replaced the machine and paid for the shipping both ways. They were so nice and went above and beyond to make it right. Within a week I had the replacement TL-18QVP and it works perfectly. I am still learning how to get the tension set properly for thick layers of fabric or vinyl, but that's on me. With the right needle, thread weight and tension, and the micro lifter, it can be done. It sews beautifully and the stitch quality is fantastic. I love this machine and am so glad I purchased it. To my surprise it's very easy to thread both top and bobbin. It's made of almost all aluminum, so it's very sturdy as well. Definitely a worthwhile investment.

After researching a sewing machine that would be useful for freehand quilting and straight sewing of heavier home ...
I seldom write reviews and even less often write more than a few words. After researching a sewing machine that would be useful for freehand quilting and straight sewing of heavier home decor type items, I settled on the Juki TL-2010Q. I looked at the computerized marvels with hundreds of different stitches, test drove the cheaper, simpler models and read every review I could find on every machine I was considering. The expensive computerized models cost nearly as much as a car and seemed to have lots of problems. The cheaper, run of the mill type machines just weren't up to the tasks I needed and felt poorly built. The Juki received mostly positive reviews and the price seemed fair for a heavy duty machine, so I ordered the TL-2010Q. I received it two days later, carefully packed and undamaged. All the parts were there. My first test was sewing through 4 layers of 100% cotton, which it performed perfectly. It walked over seams without skipping, stitches were even and the thread cutter cut at the perfect length. After using the auto thread cutter, I couldn't see the bobbin thread, but instructions assured that I could just begin another seam without finding it..... and it worked perfectly. In fact, I couldn't get this machine to mess up. Adjusting tensions was super easy. The morning after receiving my machine, my dogs tore up their dog bed. I made another shredded foam pillow and sewed seams through the crumbled foam to keep it from shifting. The Juki plowed through this task without even slowing down. I am in love! The machine is made in China, but it would seem that Juki has strict criteria. If you need a sewing machine that sews a straight stitch, without too many bells and whistles, then I believe you'll love this one.

Minimalist Sewing
I purchased this machine as a companion/replacement for my Bernina Virtuosa 155 which I've had for many years. I've had it for less than a week and I've already been able to complete several quilts that were in various states of finishing. The machine overall is exactly what it claims to be, and is almost the perfect machine for piecing and quilting quilts. I am having to adjust and get use to making a perfect scant 1/4" seam, as there is no 1/4" foot for this machine. The compensating foot works ok for piecing but it is a tad wider than the precise scant 1/4" seam I use for quilt piecing. I would also like Juki to develop and include an attachable guide for straight work, and ditch quilting for the walking foot. I absolutely love the ability to cut the threads with the foot pedal, and you do have to rock back on it pretty firmly to engage the scissors, so no fears that you could accidentally rest your foot on the pedal and accidentally cut the thread. What I love: Ease of use- I was up and running after reading the manual in 10 minutes. The powerful motor The huge throat area for bulky quilts The ergonomics of the machine, I can sit up straight and see the sewing area, no more hunching over to see The large sewing table The telescoping thread guides- I can buy large cones and save money I love the quirky industrial look of the machine It's solid and well built Thread cutting ability by using foot pedal The compensating foot makes quilting binding really accurate and easy Came packaged really securely and safely Things I don't like The light is ok, but it could be better, but I knew that before I bought it and is easily remedied with an external light source The machine doesn't come with a dedicated scant 1/4" foot- if it did this machine would be perfection And the last thing I'll mention is why I purchased this machine from Amazon and not my local shop. I went to my local store and was told that Juki no longer makes this model (TL-2010Q) and that the newer replacement is the TL-2000QI, and that it is a superior model. The price they wanted was well over $1300. I like to support local shops, but I refuse to be gouged or lied to. I'm completely happy with my machine, and would recommend it to anyone who wants a workhorse machine that's simple to operate for quilting and sewing.

Good speed, smooth sewing, great machine!
This is a straight stitch only machine which I bought as an addition to my zig zag machine because I do a lot of straight stitching. I wanted a faster machine with the ability to sew through heavy fabrics and this machine delivers. Free shipping was included along with a bonus package of 100 extra needles and 30 extra bobbins which will come in handy. The machine arrived in only a few days, and worked perfectly right out of the box. Other features of this machine: -Automatic thread cutter - either by using a button on the machine or by tapping the heel of your foot on the back of the foot pedal. I accidentally activated this a few times when I first tried the machine - I guess my heel was heavy on the pedal, but this doesn't happen anymore. This saves lots of time as well as thread. -Nice extension table. -Very sturdy. Has a handle for carrying, but it is not light in weight. -Lots of room to the right of the needle for sewing large projects or quilts. -Bright LED lighting. -Perfectly formed straight stitches. -Sews over thick seams and heavy fabric while maintaining evenly sized stitches. -Fast and very smooth sewing. -Very responsive foot control. I am able sew at full speed, or one stitch at a time by adjusting my pressure on the foot pedal (even at maximum speed) or by using the speed control lever which can be moved to increase or decrease maximum speed. -Automatic needle threader which took a little practice to master. I had to look at the threader extremely closely to see where the thread had to be placed to get it to work. Good feature and time saver if you have trouble threading the needle manually. -Presser foot pressure control. -Knee lifter. -Ability to use large spools or cones of thread. -Machine has a side loading bobbin. If you are used to a top loading bobbin where you can see how much thread is left, you cannot see how much thread is remaining unless you remove the bobbin. -Bobbin holds a lot of thread and winds quickly, but one feature I wish it had is an independent bobbin winder so I could sew while winding the bobbin. If you are looking for a straight stitch only machine this model has lots of features you will enjoy.

Sturdy, sees well, nice features.
I love my new Juki. I love that it’s so heavy duty and runs so well. I love the needle threading device and I love cutting the threads off at the end of the sewing run by the push of the foot. It’s easy to thread, both bobbin and main thread. With any new sewing machine, it takes time to get used to all the features. I’ve had mine now for like six months and I’m very happy with it. I took one star off because the lighting is an issue. Its light is not in a good place and it causes shadows and it’s pretty worthless. You have to get a bright gooseneck light somewhere behind it or near you so that you can really see.
