Best machine on the market!!
I bought my wife this for Christmas, I read a hundred reviews on this and the Philips 3200/3300, I chose this one because of the stainless steel grinder over the ceramic grinder. My wife is a coffee geek and I was so stressed she would like this machine. This was the best Christmas gift I have ever bought her that she truly loves!!!! I also bought her starbucks whole beans and pre-ground. That morning all she could do, was set up her new machine. I have read it takes a quite a few brews until if breaks in, all I know is she claims the first brew was the best cup of coffee she has ever had, however a couple weeks in she says the same thing. About 30 days of use, the descale light came on and even though it will still brew with the light on, she didn't use it that day before work and stopped at starbucks to get a cup and said she ended up throwing away the starbucks because it seemed too weak and didn't taste as good as her machine. When I got home, I followed the instructions on how to descale and it was super simple and took about 30 mins, and she's off making the best coffee she's ever had. I read reviews that this machine is high maintenance, I wouldn't agree with those reviews, you have to add water when it gets low and you have to empty the hockey puck tray every other day. As for descaling, I think there's a built in timer that is based on how many cups of coffee brewed instead of a sensor in the machine sensing scale build-up, I say this because we use R/O water to fill the tank and the machine has a built in filter also. Either way, the maintenance is not excessive. This is by far the best Christmas gift she said I ever got her and seeing her this happy over her coffee makes me happy! By the way, she use to go to starbucks 6 days a week and for what they charge for a cup of coffee, this machine has practically paid for itself as she no longer goes to starbucks! If any of you are on the fence about purchasing this machine, this is the one to buy! I would buy this machine again!

Very Pleased with this machine
What a great Espresso Machine. Coffee snob here and know a good brew when i taste it. This machine exceeded my expectations. Love all the programmable features and settings and of course the delicious brew at the correct tempature and the frother is ideal. Makes a perfect cappuccino. Yes it's a little pricey for a coffee machine but have'nt bought a cup a java since. I'm actullay saving money using the Delonghi. Highy recommend, you wont be disappointed.

Tedious and Needy all the time.
I've had this espresso machine since July of this year, and while the coffee is good, the machine is a pain. It goes through a tank full of water in a day (I only make two macchiatos' with it daily. I had a Philips Saeco previously which did not need all the attention this Delonghi does. Every morning there is something it needs, water, the water tray emptied, a new water filter (even though it was replaced less than a month ago. Descaling is a problem with it also, I descaled it less than a month ago and the descale idiot light came on. It is an albatross hanging around my neck. I like to set my coffee machine up the night before so all I have to do is get the milk out of the refrigerator turn it on, set my drink, and come back later, not so easily done with this machine. I come back to find the drip tray needs emptying etc. I think I maybe going back to Starbucks in the morning and quit dealing with this thing as there is nothing convenient about this thing. Save your money or get a Philips Saeco. I am over this needy thing.

Awesome machine - life changing!
Yes I know this may sound extreme but I am in love with this product. We have had an expresso machine for years but it was very messy. This machine makes some of the best coffee and it is simple to use and no messy clean up. The only downside is the fact that the panel is not as user friendly. You need to look up codes and which buttons to push in which order to program or interpret what certainly indicators mean. Also it would be handy to have a liner to the area where the coffee grounds empty so it is easier to clean. Currently some of the pucks break apart and are more moist which means I have to rinse the container and some grounds then go down the sink. Much less mess than my previous machine so not really a complaint but a suggestion. Maybe these do exist? I also love that the milk container is dishwasher friendly.

Great Machine — My Second De’Longhi!
This is my second De’Longhi espresso machine, and it’s just as reliable as my first. The Magnifica Start is super easy to use, makes great espresso, and the built-in grinder and automatic milk frother make mornings effortless. Lattes and cappuccinos come out perfect every time. It’s simple to clean, compact on the counter, and the one touch buttons make it totally beginner friendly. If you want great coffee at home without the hassle, this machine is a winner!

Really want to like it - Minor issues keeping it underperforming
To start with, I owned a Breville Barista Express for 4 years before finding a deal on this machine. Every time I wanted to make a latte, it would be warm machine > rinse water > grind > tamp > begin shot > prep milk > steam milk > dump puck > make latte > clean. Now I don't have to tamp, steam milk, or dump the puck. It's quite nice in this regard. However, the quality in my espresso is less in my control, as it's very hard to control the grind amount and size. I found 2 minor issues, and 1 major one in my 3 months of ownership of this machine. 1. It takes 3 shots for the grind size to change. The default grind size was 5. I switched it to 1, and it took 3 shots before the espresso was coming out 3 drops per second. I switched it back to 2/3, and it took another 3 shots before it was flowing out the recommended espresso range. 2. The shute for the grinds can get clogged up. Similar to plumbing, the grinds can stick to the walls of the shute over time when there is excess internal humidity, causing a buildup and inconsistent depositing of your ground coffee. There's even a youtube video showing it. The fix is to air out the machine after each use, or go in with a brush to wipe it down. It's not very convenient. 3. This could be an issue I caused, but the infuser inside the machine started to stop performing properly. Thankfully there are 3rd party sellers selling replacements for ~$40. The plastic part squeaks during the movement, but now I notice worse extraction and small puddles in the grinds tray. I suspect that the part is leaking the water and is pressurizing incorrectly. Praying that the replacement part fixes the issue. The only thing I did was not clean the infuser after using it a couple times, but generally I clean it every other time I make a coffee. I wouldn't expect such an important piece to break. For the convenience, it's great when it works. But the quality of the plastic parts and trickiness to dial in different roasts really makes me appreciate my semi-automatic Breville more.

Makes excellent coffee
I had another brand before this one. That one was difficult to clean inside. This one you just open the side door, squeeze the 2 buttons and pull out. Wash and rise off. No lubricant needed. Who would want lubricant chemical getting in touch with the coffee. I drink my coffee black during the morning, perfect. Of course I use premium beans. Then in the afternoon I'll make a Latte, which is fully automatic. Put your milk in the attachment, snap it into place, push the latte button, and within a minute, super yummy Latte. I enjoy the coffees from De'Longhi Magnifica over the well known coffee shops. Penny's for a homemade lattee vs. $5 for a store bought one! I love it, you will love it too!

A fabulous coffee machine!!
I had used my friend’s exact machine, over the summer while visiting her. Therefore, it was simple for me to set it up. But, had I not known the working of the machine before-hand, I think it would have been complicated to follow the hard copy directions. Be patient as you do it. The coffee is delicious. It is easy to make when all the parts are set up. It is quite a convenient size, even though it makes many different gourmet coffee options (or hot water). My cupboards are quite low since I have hidden lighting below them. So, I set up a coffee centre on a chest with a glass top, beside my counter. Now, it is very easy to access the top for the addition of the coffee beans. I purchased the machine with an automatic frother and it was worth the money. My husband likes lattes. I prefer black coffee. So, it suits us perfectly. I highly recommend this coffee machine. I wonder why I waited so long to buy a really expensive coffee machine?? We always get what we pay for. It is worth the dollars.

Better than I expected
I have owned a Jura machine for a long time and was looking to replace it. All the Jura machines I looked at were either too basic or too expensive. I researched a lot of different brands and settled on this machine because I wanted a machine that could deliver a great espresso, cappuccino and latte. The grinder setting is crucial. I played with it for about 15-20 times and got it nailed before I made a single cup of coffee. I have to say that I am impressed with how well this machine works and how customized you can make it to match your style and taste. I am very impressed with this machine so far. Hopefully it will perform well over time. Highly recommended
