This thing does everything that a multimeter should do. What this sets the DMT-99 apart from other multimeters in its price range ($37 at the time of writing this review) is its digital display with the graph mode, which cycles after a little over 30 seconds, and makes it infinitely easier to diagnose those pesky intermittent parasitic drain that spikes for a second and then goes away for the next 2-3 minutes. Other multimeters in this price range lack this feature. I purchased this multimeter and combined it with a Lisle 64970 parasitic drain testing harness to test my vehicle for intermittent parasitic drain. The graph mode (shown as the "recording mode") made it a lot easier since I didn't have to keep my eyes glued to the display the entire time. It also has the ability to display minimum and maximum detected levels. The only downside is there isn't a way to scroll back to see older chart, but you can mark and save the displayed current/voltage. Fortunately, the level of parasitic drain I discovered is within the norm of a modern vehicle, but the graph mode made it extremely easy. NCV works great, and the beep is audible enough but not annoying. I was also impressed with the battery capacity. I fully charged the device and had this thing running in frigid temperature (30 to 40°F in the shade) for about 3-4 hours while performing the test, and the battery level meter only went down from a total of seven bars to six. In terms of size and weight, it's about average in its class. You can put it in your pocket, but you'll definitely notice it's in there. This multimeter is definitely worth the investment. It more than paid itself off after a single use. Even accounting for the Lisle 64970 harness, the combined cost of the two ($60) is vastly less than what mechanics charge for parasitic battery drain testing, which can range from anywhere from $120 to $200 depending on where you live.

It arrived in good shape and had everything but a thermocouple for measuring temperature. I'm not an expert on these and I got to measure tail amps for flashlights. I based my decision for buying this because I have other FNIRSI products. I have used it to measure the voltage on some batteries and it was very accurate. It has a really nice screen and the buttons respond well when you make a selection. Charging is easy with the built in USB C charging port. You can use the box to store it because it is protected very well with the foam in the box. Or you can take the foam out of the box and use it in a case. I definitely recommend this multimeter. Even for a beginner, it's very easy to use.

Unknown how this meter can be purchased at this price. It is a phenominal meter in most respects, the most is its rather slow processor doing capacitor value readings on larger caps. Super for reading AC, DC, ohms without ever touching meter. Auto switching ranges and whatever you are measuring.

Easy to use, and it seems to be adequately accurate. I used handheld VOM meters in heavy industry, and electronics, most of my life. This meter possibly deserves 5 stars, if restricted to the uses commonly encountered in low voltage work. It may be a bit too fragile for "under the hood" vehicle maintenance, on a regular basis, but it is OK for occasional, careful, trouble shooting. My big concern is, it is really not safety tested, and agency certified, for any type work on high energy circuits. I once saw one of these general purpose, inexpensive, unrated, meters, used to troubleshoot runway lighting at a small airport. Because of the long distances the wiring must run, the runway lights operate at higher voltages than you may expect. The general purpose meter being used, exploded with a bang and a very bright light. Fortunately, the weather was cold, and the troubleshooter had a coat, gloves, and glasses on. For big jobs you want a commercial duty meter. I have this meter on my bench, and it works great for parts testing on un-energized, and low voltage, circuits. The meter has a built in rechargeable battery. Nice, as long as the battery lasts until you have a break to recharge it. I was worried the AUTO ranging function could be a problem if it selected a measurement different from what I wanted. No problem, you can select the function you want manually. Nice size color display.

First this was well packaged from the factory, has a well written manual. Im looking forward to using the monitor and record features on this meter. This should help when troubleshooting an intermittent problem. The display is easy to read and seems easy to change what settings your usng. It has a rechargeable battery installed in it, which was mostly charged when it arrived. This is a fantastic value for the features it has.

Cumple perfecto con lo descrito, su modo automático te sirve para la mayoría de ocasiones, de todas formas puedes ajustar manualmente qué unidad de medida quieres tomar. También cuenta con características únicas para una herramienta de su rango de precio, tiene historial de lecturas y puedes monitorear las lecturas expresadas en gráficos. Definitivamente hay mejores pero ya estaríamos hablando de gama alta y marcas de precios altos. Por lo que cuesta no puedes encontrar un mejor multímetro, eso sí, las puntas de las terminales se perciben algo frágiles así que mucho cuidado.

I bought this to back up my main multimeter. It's USB C rechargable, the batteries last a long time and it works just like it should.

Se siente calidad, es fácil manejarlo y si eres flojo úsalo en automático... como sea, es un excelente multímetro con mediciones precisas. Principalmente lo uso en aplicaciones de electrónica y hace muy buen su trabajo, igualmente emite suficiente energía para hacer pruebas de diodo con LED's (cosa que los de dos pilas difícilmente pueden).

I love the auto detection of this unit. Turn it on and connect the leads and boom! Your measurement shows up on the screen regardless of the method on measurement.
