## Description

desertcart.com : haakaa Gen.2 Manual Breast Pump 100ml/4oz : Baby

Review: YOU NEED THIS PUMP NOWWWW!!! - I bought one haakaa pump before I had my son in August because of all the great reviews. I didn’t actually start using it until he was almost 6 weeks old, I really wished I had started using it the day I started nursing. Whether you’re full time breast feeding, bottle feeding, split feeding, this is the best thing you could ever have. I collected so much milk that would have gone to waist because I was producing way more than my newborn would eat. My let down flow would absolutely just drown him, so I’d just put the haakaa on the breast he’s going to eat from for a minute or so, then he’s good to eat without choking. I eventually transitioned to strictly bottles because it was easier for us. I used the Medela Spectra, the manual breast pumps by Medela and Lansinoe, but this one works the best. I ended up buying another to strictly pump using only the haakaas. The way it pulls all the milk out with a continuous suction, I get more milk using these than anything I’ve ever used. I get a full 10 ounces with a 30 minute pump session using these breast pumps when I’d only get max 8 using my electric 200 dollar breast pumps. Not only does it work better, it’s just a million times more convenient. Bringing spare cups and bottles is a lot easier than making sure you can connect to power. I use the haakaa cups almost every time I go out. If I need to pump, a quick 15-30 minute pump is all I need to get going again. They’re easy to wash, my husband hated washing my electric pump, but never complains when asked to wash these lol. There’s only a tad bit of cons that don’t nearly outweigh the pros. A con would be they don’t have a strap to save the milk from falling in your lap and spilling once the suction runs out. This is most definitely the worst thing, I’ve lost so many ounces from clumsily trying to multitask. Now I sit mostly still and keep an eye on the suction so I can adjust and pour when needed. The other con which I wouldn’t really say is a con, is you have to replace them more often. With an electrical you’d have to replace all millions of pump pieces every three months or less depending on usage. These pumps, you have to replace them once the silicone becomes cloudy. This takes a while to happen, but it will eventually in about 2-3 months. Judging how easily these are to clean, using a soft sponge will make your pumps last a lot longer, but either way being hundreds of dollars less than an electrical pump, this is definitely where to invest. I also bought the lady bug collection cups in hopes of losing less milk when I’m too busy to pump. If my breasts are leaking, I can just pop those on really quickly, they fit the best in a nursing or sports bra. I’m obsessed with saving every drop for my baby, haakaa really really knows how to help with that. Just please please please make safety lanyards for your collection cups so less milk gets waisted for clumsy moms 🥹 Thank you!!!!
Review: Perfect to catch let down when nursing! - I purchased the Haakaa as a way to catch my let down because I was leaking EVERYWHERE! I was recommended this from my lactation consultant and it has been a game changer. I originally got the one Haakaa with the ladybug combo to try it out since my other breast would drench my baby and myself while nursing. But now I purchased a second Haakaa because I noticed that my now more alert little one (~1 mth) loves to wake up to me pumping with my Spectra 2 (great electrical pump). I recommend purchasing two Haakaa's for both let down and if your pump eventually bothers your baby. Note: The ladybug needs to be placed in a bra to work and it's a little uncomfortable for me. But will probably be more useful once I am out the house. How I use the product: - Nursing: I use it on my bare breast without a bra when nursing. When nursing it stays on rather well except sometimes my baby likes to kick it off but it depends on your nursing position. - Pumping: I usually only pump one breast at a time with my electrical pump, so I use the one Haakaa to catch the let down from the other breast before I get to it. Then I pour whatever let down I get into the pump bottles directly. *I haven't used it as a true manual pump often but it works as advertised if you follow the attachment process. For my purpose, I typically just gently squeeze the bottom while sitting and suction it on. Pros: - Quiet - Collects let down - Can position out of the way so my little one isn't soaked in milk from the non nursing side - Can be used as a pump - Cheaper than electrical Cons: - A little painful due to high suction - Can fall off easily if moving (i.e. use when sitting down or secure/hold it in place when walking) - Probably need to buy a set if replacing electrical pump or collecting let down - Can tip over if not careful - Can fall off if filled too much Tips: - When removing the Haakaa from my breast the bottom lip usually drips a little bit of milk onto me. I usually prepare and hold a washcloth under before removing it off my breast. - My cactus bottle brush set I got on desertcart doesn't fit through the neck which is not this products fault. Although, it can be a consideration for those who wish to clean the Haakaa with a similar product. Overall: I love using this product and it's made my breastfeeding/pumping journey easier and more enjoyable. I recommend this for any first time mom!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: 1. My haakaa can‘t work for me. Why couldn’t I collecting or only collecting a small amount of breastmilk?**
A: First, ensure that the Pump is securely attached with a strong suction. Using a warm compress, pumping in the shower, pumping first thing in the morning, and gently massaging your breast, are all easy ways you can stimulate more milk to be expressed!

**Q: 2. My Haakaa pump is hurting when I'm pumping. How can I stop it feeling this way? What causes the pain?**
A: Maybe suction too strong. Try to just lightly squeeze the base and attach to your breast making sure your nipple is in the centre of the pump and not touching the sides of the Pump. The more air gets squeezed out, the stronger the suction will be.

**Q: 3. Why does my Haakaa has a strong smell of plastic? Is there any way to get rid of the smell?**
A: Make a paste of baking soda and water, rub it all over the Pump and then soak it in a 50-50 mixture of white vinegar and warm water for about 30-60min. Then clean your pump thoroughly with warm soapy water. Finally, boiling in hot water for 2-3 mins.

**Q: 4. My haakaa breast pump just lose its suction and fall off when I use it. What should I do?**
A: First of all, make sure that you are using the breast pump the right way. Follow the instructions above. If there is residue that causes the breast pump to lose suction, you can use the odor removal method in the 3rd question to remove the residue.

**Q: 5. What times of the day are better to use a breast pump to collect breastmilk?**
A: The easiest time to express milk using a breast pump is in the morning! For the rest of the day, it’s best to express 30 mins to 1 hr after feeding your bub. You can also catch let-down with haakaa from the other breast while your baby is feeding.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A hands free way to build your stash
*by B***E on July 24, 2025*

The Haakaa breast pump is a total game changer for breastfeeding moms! It’s incredibly simple to use. Just suction it onto the opposite breast while nursing, and it collects letdown that would otherwise be wasted. No cords, no noise, no complicated parts to clean. I love how portable it is. Perfect for travel, the diaper bag, or quick use at home. The soft silicone is gentle and comfortable, and it’s easy to sterilize between uses. What surprised me most was how much milk I was able to collect passively. It’s ideal for building a freezer stash with minimal effort. The only downside is that it can lose suction if bumped, so I recommend using the version with a suction base or adding a Haakaa lid to avoid spills. Overall, it’s an affordable, efficient, and must-have tool for any nursing mom. I’d absolutely recommend it to both new and experienced breastfeeding moms.
