Can this be used as a iliacus relief tool?

The Pocket Physio is an introductory trigger point tool, designed primarily for releasing shallow muscle groups. Given the depth of the Iliacus muscle, the Pocket Physio may not create the requisite pressure necessary to release this muscle.

The Pocket Physio Rocket would be better suited for use on the Iliacus muscle, however we would recommend that this is done with qualified instruction from a medical professional to prevent adverse effects (given the depth of the muscle and the potential of targeting unintended areas).

Both products are muscle triggers. The standard Pocket Physio is smaller than the max and is designed as a hand held tool for triggering muscles mainly in the upper body. You can use it for the lower body too but the max is bigger (and a bit nastier) but is perfect for triggering the deeper muscles of the lower limb like the Glutes and Piriformus.

Is this made from a hard or softer material? Does it have give or is it solid when laid on?

It is technically "soft" in that the material isn't rock-solid -- you can poke into it with your finger.  But make so mistake, it's meant to target and release your trigger points, so that pointy part feels pretty darn pointy.  That's the whole idea, mind you.  The experience can be summed up as "Oww...ow ow ow....ahhhhh, yeah...." (ow-to-ah mileage may vary ;)
