On occasion they will pop out and bounce off of something and roll under the machine, however it has never been a problem for me to retrieve the pin(s). Some folks might consider the quality of materials to be a bit on the "light" side, however I find that the lightness of these pins enhances their functionality. Only rarely do they not function as they are supposed to, however they have never done anything that put me at risk for being harmed (but please be careful how you use any weight lifting devices). I used to have my own version of these made of a bolt and a spring and a washer that I had soldered together. Trust me, this one works much better LOL! I really like that two of these can be used in conjunction with each other in order to use a total of three different weights in one set.
