Had my TomTom for years don’t use regularly to be fair, but do use on long journeys and unfortunately the sucker stopped sticking. Thought I would have to buy a new sat nav, not the best timing, however thought I would give this a go. Arrived quickly and before the suggested date. Removed the old one (which was a rubbery type of ball so came out relatively easy) and then tried to fit new one (hard plastic ball) it wouldn’t go into the socket but the ball ends of the old and new are exactly the same size ???? however if you read the instructions it does mention that it may take considerable force first time……so placed sat nav face down on a folded towel to protect the screen and with ‘considerable’ force it went in, thank goodness ! Sticks well, I prefer the longer neck and the push back seal, rather than the original tiny neck and twist seal (which I always found a bit fiddly).

I literally have to wrestle to pull it off the Tom Tom with some vigeur. Really it is not fit for purpose. Waste of money. Avoid.

As a Driving Instructor I have to have a stand alone Tom Tom Navigation system in my car as it used in the driving exam these days. I don't have the luxury of just using the sat nav software found on a smart phone, so this gives me the added headache of having to have the Tom Tom mounted in decent position where the driver and the instructor can both view it equally as well. I opted for this mount as it is not too expensive, and priced sort of middle of the road (excuse the pun) I would say. It's a fairly basic design and has the good old fashioned suction cup to stick it up with. I have always found the suction cups to give excellent adhesion so there's no issues there. This stays put wherever you mount it. If you have or have had a Tom Tom then you will know that they come with a small circular socket at the back, which is there if you want to buy and use the official Tom Tom car mount - which is obviously a lot more expensive. The good thing with this mount is it also uses the same socket at the back and slots nicely into that to give a very solid grip indeed. What I don't really like about this mount is the manoeuvrability as that is some what limited. From the suction cup the arm of the mount comes out and just past halfway on the mount there is a joint where you can rotate the tom tom left or right. Rather than just rotate it I really wanted the ability to be able to bend it from that point and be able to move the unit at angles, either towards the driver or away, as I feel that would give it the best viewing angles. If they add that feature then this would get another star and would be a very good product, but as it stands today and at the price it is, then this will get the job done for you without breaking the bank and will also stay put wherever you decide to leave it.
