Is there a way to make the unit turn on just above freezing? My unit turns on when the temperature is hotter than target instead of colder. Ta!

So... I had the same issue, and there is no mention of this functionality in the instruction manual. A combination of pointers from here, and a bit of experimentation found the answer. I am going to try to describe the solution from first principles, as a few people have mentioned there is a solution, but the descriptions of how to get to it are not as straightforward as I needed: 1. As the remote item is 'powered up' it starts in its 'settings mode'. To return to this open the back of the remote and remove one of the batteries for a few seconds and put it back in place. 2. When the remote powers up, the LCD screen lights, and if all is according to plan an icon should be flashing on the top row. - If the device is set to 'heating' mode a flame icon will be flashing - If the device is set to 'cooling' mode a snowflake icon will be flashing. 3. Press either the 'on' OR 'off' button once to change the mode setting until the mode you require flashes. 4. Wait a few seconds and the mode icon will stop flashing, followed by the temperature unit marker (°F or °C) will flash. 5. Press either the 'on' OR 'off' button once to change the temperature unit marker you require flashes. If you require no change, just wait a few seconds until it stops flashing. The temperature readout will change based on the unit marker you choose. 6. If you require to amend the settings again, remove a battery from the back for a few seconds and replace. Hope that helps. One might think adding this information to the instruction manual would be useful?

How do you program for Cooling mode ??

Sorry for delay needed to go check instructions (which don't tell you) and try it, as have only used ours for controlling heating. Turn unit on, you'll see flashing display with flame. Press off and it changes display to snowflake symbol. Program target temperature as required. This should reverse the switch.

I just got mine and YES I agree, it works the opposite way from what was expected. The target temperature is a MINIMUM temperature level, if the current temp is greater than the target the power is ON. I want to set a 10 deg maximum temperature for my heater, so the heater will turn OFF when 10 deg is reached NOT vice versa !! Glad someone else had the same problem.

On mine the green led flashes about every 10 seconds. how do i stop that? (tried brand new batteries - still flashes)

30 seconds on mine.You cannot stop it and why would you want to it is communicating with the plug in base unit.Power drain is minimal"great piece of kit"
