Philips Universal Remote Control, Universal TV Remote Replacement

The remote for one of our TVs died, so I purchased the Philips Universal Remote Control to replace it. After a brief set-up I found that it controls the volume and channels. Works well, easy to set up, and does all I would expect it to do. It is very reasonably priced. I did find one quirk, when looking at the on-screen guide, if I wish to go from channel 43 to channel 45 it is necessary to press the '-' button as opposed to what I would expect, the '+' button. I have resolved this problem by holding the remote backwards and upside down during such operations. I have done some additional experimentation as to the universality of the remote. For example, I have found it has no apparent effect as a remote starter for my car, is of no value whatsoever with PowerPoint presentations during ZOOM meetings, and it cannot operate a lawn mower. In this I am bitterly disappointed and suggest revising the name to "Philips Universal Remote Control FOR TELEVISIONS AND CABLE AND STREAMING STUFF" (emphasis added) to avoid similar future disappointments to others. To close with positive notes, it does a fine job controlling the TV and Roku box in the kitchen, and that's great. And to my delight I have found it has a profound effect on my neighbor, R. Philips, who has just finished mowing my yard (the 'A' button), and next will be washing our cars (the 'B' button). I've yet to assign the 'C' or 'D' buttons, but I think leaf and snow removal may be good candidates, come fall and winter.

UPDATE: tried code #5531 & instead of Amazon home page working when pressing the "home" button, it will pop up when pressing the "exit" button just to the right of it. Still playing with it, tho. Not sure why the home button doesn't work, but hey, at least there is a button to bring it up AND the directional arrows work. Yay!! Lol Updated to 4 stars.... so glad I'm finally getting the remote to work, it is a nice one!! No Alexa voice command, but I hardly use that anyway. - - - - - - I just bought a Toshiba Fire TV and for whatever reason, the Toshiba remote has no numbers to input for local channels. So I've been looking for a backup remote to use for that, plus control streaming. This is my 3rd attempt at finding one and so far, I love the design/feel/looks of it this remote the best. Unfortunately, it only provides 1 code to enter for Toshiba Fire tv (6091). The channel buttons don't work and when you press the 'home' button, the Amazon screen comes on as normal but the arrows do not work to navigate. At this time, depending on what I'm watching (local vs streaming), since it's super easy to enter the codes, I alternate them (very easy to enter 4 digit code, so that is a plus 👍) I still have time to return it, but keep hoping I will hit on a sweet number that will work everything. I really like this remote and am trying to make it work.

This has worked amazing for our LG tv. It was VERY easy to program to our tv and has worked perfectly. You can adjust the volume from it and any of the tv settings that you need too. Sometimes universal remotes only let you do so many things but you can do everything from this one remote! This is way worth the price and the color adds a nice touch!

I have a dog that loves to chew remote controls. I purchase this often as a replacement. Easy to use and great price.

This universal remote works well for our purposes. I bought this to use with our Apple TV because that remote kept disappearing. We have the TV, BlueRay player, and AppleTV (3rd Gen.) programed to the remote. Included instructions were straightforward and programing the remote was easy. Took maybe ten minutes to program all three devices. While the remote does not come with a label for every type of device, you can choose to assign whichever device you what to each of the programable button. The remote itself is large, fits perfectly in an adult hand and still easy for children to use. I love the color; harder to lose.

I love this remote! Am i the only one that takes a universal remote with me while i travel? hahaha! I like taking a remote with me for the family - if you ever goto hotels alot of the time you cant change inputs on the tv. My kids usually bring their xbox or switch with them. With this simple remote i am able to program almost anything and change the inputs if needed. I really like how the buttons light up and make it easy to read.

This is a good quality universal remote with decent ergonomics and features. More importantly, it supports a broad list of brands and devices. I was hoping to use it with a 20 year old tube TV for which there was no hope of finding an original remote. To my surprise this remote supports it perfectly. It's great that you can still buy a remote for outdated devices like CRT TVs and VCRs. Programming the device is a simple affair. I recommend going for a known brand like Philips if you have concerns about brand or device compatibility.

So easy to set up and use. Great value and cute colour reminds me of the 90's.

It took me less than a minute to program the remote for my TV and cable box, and now one inexpensive remote does it all. Minor inconvenience is that you need to select TV or Stream to choose between the TV and cable box, but that is expected and better thn having to pick up a second remote.
