It's happened to me as well. We take it for granted that it will work first time- every time. there is maintenance that has to be done on every lighter. For those that purchase a lighter & it doesn't work first time, or fails in a relatively short time, you obviously want your money back or at least an exchange for a new lighter. I received this lighter yesterday; it was 75% charged. I went to my cigar lounge, filled it, & it works beautifully. I lent it to 3 other people to use to light their cigars, and they were impressed. It holds a generous amount of fuel and doesn't get hot in the hand, either. It contains a rechargeable battery and will not light when it runs out of charge. Much better than any other torch lighter I have ever used, with some costing double or triple the price of this lighter, and those expensive lighters usually don't last long. This lighter lasts and is high quality in every way, Just be careful to close the lid on the lighter before setting it down, the flame stays on until you close the lid. I use 14x refined butane in my lighter. The universal tip never works well on this lighter, and you lose more butane than the lighter contains when trying to fill it.
