This item is a real "find." It makes many fish-based meals more "hearty." For example we add it clam sauce for pasta ... you just need to find a "sweet spot" erring on the low side at first, so the flavor doesn't overwhelm. Even commercial clam chowders where you see pieces of clam but not much clam flavor benefit. I won't take a star away on one issue, since it is not the product's fault. We received two jars in a cushioned bag (no box) and when we opened it, one jar was badly broken and the contents spilled. We put in to amazon for a refund or replacement. They said yes, but they they would only issue the discount if we dropped it to a Whole Foods. My wife and I are elderly and don't want a difficult drive to the nearest store, plus the loss of time and gas, just to get a refund for a $10 item that should have been delivered intact in the first place. So kept the unbroken jar, threw out the broken one and "ate" the loss. They could have given us alternative ways to get the credit, but chose to offer ONLY the most difficult one for us.

Like all the BTB products, this definitely produces a strong flavor profile. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the lobster base is VERY, VERY SALTY! Used a roux with milk and heavy cream produced a nice lobster bisque, but use the base sparingly, a little at a time as it is, again, very salty. I will also use unsalted butter in the roux next time.
