KAL Bone Meal Powder, 8 Ounce

Great product that was recommended by our naturopathic vet as one of the supplements in my dog’s homemade food recipe.

It took a bit longer to ship but is exactly what I was looking for. I'm using this for my dog and so far it is working for him.

I'm vegetarian so need bone meal. The dog usually eats what I eat but dogs need plenty of bone. I mix it in whatever and she seems to not notice.

It's bone meal, I'm not sure it has flavor but my dog enjoyed the homemade dog food, and the bone meal ingredient did not sway her feeding frenzy. No apparent flavor enhancement it provided, but I'd say sprinkle some bone meal into their food because of the health benefits it provides, and does not alter the flavor of food they are striving to get. Good on bone meal!

I mixed this in with some probiotic supplement powder, fish oil, and various other things my dogs like for taste. (mainly sweet potato, carrot, and applesauce) I give both of them a large scoop of this mixture each day after my male dog was put in Antibiotics for a UTI, and previously, he had been suffering from dandruff, which my female dog eventually did as well. I mainly bought the bone meal powder due to my female dog's scent glands not being expressed without her being fed bones, which were usually in the form of raw turkey necks from Walmart. I still give them these as a treat, but I wanted to see if the bone meal powder was as effective, and it certainly is. (I can tell by the hard, lighter brown sections in her feces that she normally only gets when she eats the raw turkey necks.) I wish I could say how much is in each scoop, but I can't. The mixture I created was about a gallon worth of scoopable goop, and each scoop is contains other good things. The dogs enjoy it a lot and even though its not due to the bone meal powder, the combination of the bone meal, fish oil, and probiotics has resulted in my male dog's feces being back to normal quickly after the antibiotics were discontinued and both dogs stopped flaking with dandruff immediately.

My little pup was having seizures as he turned a year old so I started reading books, blogs, articles on how to keep your pets healthy. Along with that I spoke with our vet who stated that home cooked meals are ok but to ensure our pup had enough calcium in his diet every day. He suggested grinding one Tums tablet in his meal. I knew the dog would not like the taste so I purchased Kal bone meal and came up with a good, healthy recipe using this, another source of calcium, the omegas. vitamins, etc. I'm happy with Kal bone meal for its purity and consistency. He's been on it for almost a year and so far so good.

While I really want the calcium from bone they have added calcium carbonate which I am trying to avoid, so its a mixed bag for me.

I buy bone meal powder to add to my dog's diet since I cook for her myself. I love this product. I do wish that the opening was larger as it doesn't fit a tablespoon , but I do like buying it here. The price is right and it is delivered quickly.
