## Description

Bring some Scandi charm to your spring crafting with Tilda's Sunshine Sewing . This brand new pattern book from the hugely popular designer Tone Finnanger is packed with gorgeous sewing and quilting projects to add a ray of sunshine into your spring decor. Featuring two full size quilts, plus pillows, soft toys and bags--all made in the latest Tilda fabric ranges, plus stunning photography, this Tilda spring collection is a treat for sewers everywhere. 12 adorable projects are themed around the summer coast and countryside, with motifs of lemons, fruit trees, birds, octopuses, mermaids, jellyfish, narwhals, starfish and more.

Review: Really awesome summer quilts and sewing projects, beautifully photographed, well written instructions. - This book is absolutely adoreable! It coordinates very well with the " Tilda's Seaside Ideas " and " Tilda's Summer Ideas " books! (They are still both available on desertcart!) Everything in this book is made with the Lemontree and Sunkiss fabric collections designed by the author. The cute little mermaid doll is in this book. Not sure why that is not on the cover, and why there is a cat (cover) in the book at all. I almost didn't buy this book because of the cover! The entire them of the projects is all "nautical" or "ocean" themed items so if you are a beach lover/ocean lover, this is a really awesome book! There is an adorable pieced whale quilt that you can make using fat 1/8ths which I noticed are being sold in the Tilda line now. The "Whale Quilt" is also jelly roll friendly, many of the strips to make each whale black are 2 1/2 x 8" rectangles. There is also a whale pillow/headrest, a really sweet sailboat quilt (Regatta Quilt), beach bags, starfish, an octopus, fabric bowls (clever construction technique!) with fabric lemons, a lemon tree applique pillow, and a "Lemonade Quilt" (lemon motif blocks/curved piecing). There is a fabric swatch chart that gives you the name of the fabric and the amount needed for each project if you want to use the same fabric used in the samples inside the book. For the quilting projects, these are very beginner friendly, strip piecing and half square triangles and simple squares/rectangles (for the beach bags, which are oversized), except for the Lemonade Quilt which requires curved piecing (which some people find easy and enjoyable). IF you have a hard time finding these fabrics in the US, some of the projects you could find substitutes for, like the Regatta Quilt, that could mimic the color scheme. That quilt requires 4 yds. of "soft teal" fabric (solid), and 1 1/4 yds. each of "dove white" (off white solid), and "warm sand, 5 - 1/4 yard cuts of various prints in bright fuschia pinks and bright navy blues, and 7 - 1/8 yard cuts in accent colors (bright orange, bright yellow-green, bright tone on tone teal/aqua, and bright tone on tone fuschia for the sails. All of the "softies" are made using the same techniques in all the other Tilda books. The first book that came out was very confusing to understand, but these newer books have much better instructions, plus there are lots of videos online now that show how to make them. Once you've made one you'll find it easy to make all the others. Instead of cutting out pattern pieces (all in full size in the back of the book) and sewing the raw edges together, you draw the pattern piece onto 2 pieces of fabric (right sides together) and sew along the traced line, leaving an opening for stuffing (so much easier!). Also, for attaching doll pieces together, ie. attaching the arm to the body, I was taught to use the "ladder stitch" which makes the seam invisible. For stuffing, if you place small amounts of stuffing inside, a little at a time and using a stuffing fork or a chopstick to push it into place, you'll get nice smooth results rather than a lumpy surface. For the skin fabric, you want a medium weight fabric, not a lightweight quilting fabric, which will give you the smoothest surface. If you can, you'll also get better results with stuffing if you use quality stuffing/fiberfill like the Mountain Mist Premium Fiberfill or the Polyfill brand.
Review: Love love love - Love , beautiful illustrations ,easy to follow instructions.
