Question 1

How many TVs should this amplifier be able to supply a suitable signal? We have 4 that all use the exterior antenna.

This would depend upon the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the coax from the antenna.  You should check 1st to see if you get sufficient SNR going straight from antenna into 1 TV.  Typically RF splitters for coax (1 in & 2 out) have 3.5dB loss per split.  So, for 4 TVs you would have roughly 7dB of signal power loss and the amplifier would need to have enough gain to make up got the loss due to splits.  Above amplifier has 24dB gain so it more than makes up for the 7dB loss.  Depending upon your TV's input dynamic range, you might even need to turn the gain down so as not to saturate.  It is best to put the amplifier near the antenna in the signal path and before any splitter.  FWIW; I have a 4-way splitter after the amplifier feeding 4 TVs and 1 FM radio and seems to work pretty good so far.

Question 2

I run a single tv off of an outdoor antenna, can i place this right at rhe tv or does it need to be a certain distance from the set??

We have the amplifier right under the wall-mounted TV sitting on the mantle.  We haven't tried repositioning it elsewhere.  The TV jack and outlet are next to each other.  I believe it would depend on where your jack and outlet are located to really determine the distance the amplifier can be placed from the TV.

Question 3

I've channel master cm-1776 and i live about 2 miles from towers. video looks great but i see pauses, both video and sound. will this amplifier help?

I don't know but a tower 2 miles from you should not require and amplifier to receive the signal. The tower I was trying to access was 63 miles away.

Question 4

Will it help just boost the signal on old FM stereo, all by itself with nothing else running off of it?

You need an antenna. An old set of rabbit ears will do.  
But, you need to put the ears down flat for best fm reception.
