4.5 Stars
I needed some new underwear so I read the reviews on Amazon, like I usually do before I buy almost anything. This Gildan underwear was well-reviewed, and lower priced that many of the other options. Many years ago I had several different sets of underwear of several brands, and they all had problems too quickly, like falling apart (holes & tearing at the waistband), elastic waistband stretching, poor fit, etc. So, I did some research several years ago, and bought several better brands and have had fairly good luck with them for the past several years, but now those are starting to wear out. This time the Gildan seems to have some of the highest customer reviews, and seemed to be the best value, so I bought them. I have had them for about a month now, and have worn them almost exclusively (I still have some other styles and brands) โ and have been very pleased overall with these. Iโd say as good or better than any underwear Iโve had before.. If I could, Iโd give them 4.5 stars, but since I canโt, I think they are closer to 5 stars than 4. A few caveats: 1) They are definitely midrise. I think they are true midrise, they are not full briefs, and not low-cut / โhip huggersโโฆ. If you are looking for full or mini โ donโt buy these midrise 2) They have moderately large steps between sizes, so if you are a โtweenerโ these may not fit as well as if you are in the middle of the size range. As several reviewers commented, we long for the โgood old daysโ when they made underwear not by small/medium/large, but by 2 inch increments between waist sizes (i.e. 30โ, 32โ, 34โ, 36โ โฆ) 3) They are very white fabric, except the very black waistband. I donโt love it, but I can easily live with it. If you consider any of these show-stoppers, you might find another brand / style that doesnโt have these characteristics. Here are some things I like about them: โข They seem to have very good build quality, and have held up well so far, in about a month of wear and washings. โข They fit me well, not perfect, but a good fit โ not too baggy anywhere, not too tight. Iโm about a 34โ waist (maybe 34.5โ or so), and I got the large. I believe the medium would have been way to snug for me, IMO. โข The fabric is a nice weight (neither too thin or too thick), seems durable, but yet is soft/flexible with a very nice feel โ I guess maybe the โringspunโ does make a difference? โข Elastic waistband seems to be very good quality, is comfortable, but also holds the briefs in place well. These arenโt โtaglessโ; however, they did a great job with the tag. The tag tag is smooth and soft, and covers the seam in the elastic waistband, so the tag actually improves comfort. I never notice the tag, or the seam the tag covers. Well doneโฆ. Several reviewers complained about the adhesive on the tape in the packaging. When I pulled off the tape that was on the underwear, I noticed a small amount of adhesive that pulled off the tape and was stuck to the underwear. I did an extended wash & rinse cycle on the underwear before I wore them the first time, and have not noticed the adhesive on the underwear at all. So, for me, it was a tiny annoyance when I first unpackaged them, but absolutely no issue after that. They could probably pick some better tape, or other way to hold them together in the packageโฆ. Based on my experience so far, Iโd highly recommend these

You've found them
So I never thought I'd be reviewing underwear, but here we are. First off, just know they are great quality for the price. This review is after 1 year of use. After years of looking around, trying different brands, etc. I realized that brands are not consistent. Hanes briefs for example used to be my go to brand. Easy to buy large size 34-36 waist. But they changed the cut of the underwear, namely the butt area. It now was like a floppy cape dragging behind me. Yes, my wife would sometimes giggle when she saw me walking around in them. I also noticed many brands were now steading way from 100% cotton to either a Cotton / Polyester blend or an all polyester "cotton feel" and calling it "moisture wicking" or "cooling fabric". Well really what that amounts to is you are sitting in plastic all day with no real airflow, like a suana. And by the way "moisture wicking really means no moisture gets soaked into the fabric or escapes. So that means it all stays trapped in your crotchal region :-/ That was no good for me. So I tried another brand, Calvin Klein. They fit me great except for a couple things: 1) They were significantly more expensive than I was used to. 2) The waist band would fold over when I sat down and stay lie that when I stood up. No good. Enter these Gildan briefs. Good fit, perfect size waist band in my opinion, no fold overa. 100% cotton and great soft feeling fabric. Good air flow and comfortable fit. Elastic isn't pinching or too tight. f you live in a hot moist environment the elastic may wear out just like any other elastic would, but not any sooner. And a great price even compared to cheap store brands. I'll be a customer of this brand and style for years to come.

As others have said, these do run small after washing
These are really pretty good; fabric does not look or feel thin, they are soft, and at least I do not notice them when wearing them. All good things. Now they did come in a package that showed boxers, but had the product as shown in the review inside the package......so packaging was not right, but the product inside was what I wanted. I also did order Large, when I usually get Medium (32-34 waist), and asked my wife to wash them in warm water, noting others who said they shrink. That washing caused them to shrink a bit, and they now fit well. I liked them so much that I ordered 2 more packages of 6 pair because I did not want them to change their supplier and/or fabric before I could get some more. The only reason for not rating a solid 5 all the way across is that since I had to purchase Large, and shrink via washing; the cotton parts fit, but the waist does not fit as snugly as I am used to with other good fitting shorts.....that admittedly are no longer available. On balance, I will gladly take the right fit, with a less than optimal snug elastic setup. I purchased, like others, better known names in the last year and was disappointed in all of them, lowered quality and longevity as others have noted. So, I am now a Gildan fan, and hope they do not let me down as they get a bit older.

A New Wardrobe Staple For Me.
It came time to replace my current line up of briefs/ tighty-whities, so I thought about trying something new for a change. Polo Ralph Loren, Tommy Hilfiger, and JC Penney/ Stafford white briefs have all been good buys, as have my most recent go-to underwear- Fruit-of-the-Loom. I've been focusing more on value lately, which is why I went from paying anywhere from $7.00 to $12.00 for a pair of shorts to about $1.50 per pair with Fruit-of-the-Loom. With Gildan, the new brand I decided to try, I bought these for about $3.00 per pair, and my first impression is very favorable! I not only look for a good pair of briefs for comfort and support under slacks, jeans, and gym shorts; I also want something that is comfortable to sleep in and lounge around at home in on a lazy Saturday or Sunday. These Gildan tighty-whities are super comfortable, extremely soft, and not made with flimsy see-through cotton. The seams around the legs are wide and strong, and I love the black waistband with the Gildan name on them. I also appreciate that they are tagless! A great buy that is economical and allows me to spend a little more on that part of my wardrobe that other people actually see! For underwear, sleeping attire, and lounge wear- Gildan tighty whities are perfect for this guy! Thanks!

Great briefs!
These briefs are, like T-shirts made by Gildan, of exceptionally good quality for the money. I chose these because my former brand (Hanes) quit putting elastic in the leg seams, creating a problem with keeping everything in place. By contrast, these do have elastic seams which get the job done and are very comfortable as well. Size-wise, I'm a 32 waist, but I bought 34 in anticipation of shrinkage, and after washing these briefs fit perfectly. A minor quibble is that the inside fly flap is wider than it need be, making extraction a tat more difficult than a narrower one would.

Comfortable, but defective
I jumped out of the shower, opened the package and put on a pair. The fabric was soft and appeared to be of good quality. The product seemed well made and was sized correctly. It was comfortable! But... While checking the fit and looking in the mirror, I noticed a place where the main fabric had come away from the leg hole. Too bad! I think I would have really liked these! I returned them instead. ( FYI - I also ordered a package of some briefs of this brand that are not "Platinum" and I do think this fabric & design would be more comfortable, although the others are not bad) As far as the fit is concerned, I would describe these (and the other pkg of this brand) to be slightly short of mid-rise. I would have preferred more height, and my wife thinks these are more bikini-looking (and I agree) than the Haynes I am trying to get away from because of the recent poor quality of the elastic. But these were actually quite comfortable. I'm really disappointed about this. It's not like "men's briefs" is some revolutionary concept, so you'd think that someone would be able to make them correctly! It seems like all of the brands I've tried are on some kind of race to the bottom, especially over the last few years, with poor quality materials or construction. If the others I purchased of this brand hold up, I may try these again.

A perfect fit
These briefs fit perfectly, stretching evenly about the waste in a snug but unbinding manner. They are mid- to high-wasted and very comfortable in staying up and allowing one to move and stretch as the need occurs.

Awesome tighty whities
Great fit, Super comfortable. Did not have any problem with glue residue from the tape on each pair. Been over a month of weekly washing and seems to be holding up very well. Highly recommend. Great briefs!
