Powerful Wisdom Comes in Small Packages
I've been doing a weekly medicine wheel with Medicine Cards for over 10 years, but the recent addition of this little book has brought a powerful understanding of the medicine wheel that was previously lacking in my spiritual practice. It's not very long but the teachings FAR outweigh the page count. I've highlighted it so much that the pages are wrinkly. After 57 years of marriage, my father passed away a few months ago and my mother's grief has been tremendous. I've introduced her to the Medicine Cards and The Sacred Tree teachings. WOW, talk about a powerful set of tools to help her cope with the loss and find a new outlook on life. She was previously borderline suicidal without Dad and now, I can literally see the peacefulness on her face that the Native American spiritual practice and teachings of the medicine wheel are bringing to her, slowly but surely. This in itself is worth more than anything else in the world to me. No matter what your background, I strongly recommend you check out this book. If nothing else, it's an incredibly wise blueprint for living a full, productive, compassionate and peaceful way of life.

Very informative & spiritual.
Let's face it. Some books on Native American Spirituality are hard to understand, or are *gasp* boring. This related some very basic, but fundamental information in a way that I believe most would appreciate it. Nicely worded and illustrated as well. I think it would be beneficial for any class or those who are trying to improve their basic understanding of unifying Native American spiritual belief to use this book as a real source. Really great for pagans/transcendentalists to supplement their understanding too.

The basics in basic form...
A great beginners book on learning about some Native American basic philosophy/spirituality and the medicine wheel...I ordered two more to use as loaners to my clients who are interested in alternative manner of looking at life and spirituality, as well as their own Native American beliefs. A book well worth the read, study, and time.

Super, wonderful study of Native American spirituality
The Native Americans have such great respect and devotion to the earth and the studies for living a better life. We can learn so much from them and this book gives reflectons for our own lives and how to achieve that. This is one of the best books I have read to understand the 4 directions and how to apply to life.

Good philosophy
This is an excellant boook for anyone wishing to understand basic native american life philosophy. How they thought and why. We should all subscribe to this way of thinking and we might not have so many wars.

Best Spiritual Guide for any one in a 12-step program.
I have recommended this book to many people as my favorite 12-step spirituality guide. The concepts of leading a spiritual life are simple and clear and include actions to lead to a better spiritual life. People of any religion could find it helpful and I particularly recommend the book to agnostics or atheists who can widen their thoughts on spiritual practice without a required reference to a deity (the understanding of the use of symbol and metaphor is great).

Came into my life at the perfect time
This book is a great introductory to Native American spiritualism. Having grown up in a Christian family and community, I am enjoying the education of this part of my ancestry. Many of the tenets are in line with monotheistic religions and do not require solemn promises or conversions to fully appreciate. The principles are incredible for living a good, healthy life. I am rereading the book to let it soak in.
