When the Girls Take Over Review: These oldie movie packs are a treasure trove ! - If you like the movies from the 30's, 40's and 50's you will consider this and other similar movie packs a treasure trove of entertainment. Without these movie packs finding these movies would be very difficult to impossible to find. So if you like the old movies don’t hesitate to buy. Some of the movies look good others not so good, but so far I have found all of them watchable. To me it is not so much the viewing quality that is foremost important, it is the content quality. Quite often the humor is very low key but funny to hilarious. Review: BUY ONLY ONE of the groups of 50 movie packs - I enjoyed the old movies and have no complaints about the selections they offered. MY BIG Complaint is I bought a second set and like another person mentioned THESE GUYS REPACKAGE MANY OF THE SAME MOVIES IN OTHER SETS. If you only are buying one of the Sets of 50 ...it is a solid FIVE STARS...if you buy a second....only one star.

Go ahead, buy these!
If you get this, don't think its all big name movies & stars. There's a few. But all in all, it's a pretty good collection for the money. Some aren't so funny, but maybe it's just the times. I'm not sure. They were still good movies, just not funny really. And there are a few really 'campy' old flicks included. If you like old B&W movies (and a couple in technicolor) you'll like this. I don't have TV or Internet, and these collections are a great buy!! Totally worth the money to me!! I LOVE THEM!!

Old fashioned Saturday matinee comedy fun
I'm hooked on these 50-movie Mill Creek/Treeline dvd sets. I own 17 and plan to own many more! They are an unbeatable mix of the unexpected, the silly, the rare, and the hilarious. These are often bad movies - possibly the best/worst of the bad movies - all at once, mixed up in a bucket, about 4 movies for $1. Yes, the video quality is mixed. Yes, an annoying Mill Creek logo pops up onscreen sometimes. Yes, most of these seem to be transferred from VHS sources. Yes, some movies are edited, and yes, sometimes the sound quality isn't ideal. If any of this bothers you, do not buy a 50-movie pack. You will need to pay a little more for individual dvds. "Comedy Kings" is good solid old-fashoned black and white comedy. Plenty of good movies here, all of them old, 1920s-1950s, all black-and-white. Only one silent: Charlie Chaplin's classic "The Kid". It's much more homogenous than most Mill Creek sets, lots of solid movies, very few terribles, and none that don't fit. All 100% G-rated and many of them laugh-out-loud for the whole family. Lots of silly and fun movies here: Neil Hamilton (Commissioner Gordon of the '60s Batman) comically flustered in "Too Many Women" and "The Animal Kingdom". The marvelously ballsy Betty Hutton plays the equally bold silent film star Pearl White in "The Perils of Pauline". Carol Lombard shines as she fools New York City in "Nothing Sacred" (music by The Raymond Scott Quintette!). John Wayne shows his spoiled, petulant, pre-tough guy side in "His Private Secretary". Danny Kaye glows with comic genius in the Chekov-inspired "The Inspector General". A few East End Kids vehicles. Lots of mistaken identities, wackily dysfunctional families, harebrained schemes, and unlikely romance. Nothing but happy endings. Many truly "good" films here, such as "The Villian Still Pursued Her", a dead-on parody of serial melodrama starring silent comedy genius Buster Keaton and Margaret Hamilton (aka The Wicked Witch of the West). Overall, if you like old black and white comedy this is an excellent buy. I love it!

Delivers as promised
Of course they're old... otherwise the collection wouldn't be cheap. But these are excellent examples of what I tell children: Not everything old is bad! There are quite a few real gems here, many created during the Great Depression. Making movies on the cheap during the depression meant they couldn't rely on expensive effects, or locations, to make movies entertaining. The only thing you had to rely on was talent: good acting, good direction, good music, and writing. Movies from that era were also pretty short, as film was very expensive. "All Over Town", for example, is only 63 minutes long, but full of laughs. Pry your kids loose from their cell phones long enough to watch a couple of these with you.

Great selecion of movies!!!
We watch many older movies and thought we were familiar with most of them. Almost every movie in this collection is "new" to us. They are great movies, but seldom are on TV or on Netflix! Great value for the money!!!

Can't go wrong with the 50 packs!
You can't go wrong with any of the 50 packs! You may get a couple of duds, but who cares! Show me a better deal! Some reviews mentioned picture or sound quality being an issue. Hey! This is before they had dolby, hi-fi and all that! I assume most of the negative reviews come from younger folks who were raised on HD TV! I haven't had any problem listening or watching any of these movies! Sure there are a few places where there might have been a film splice, or the sound may be less than 2015 standards, but it's nothing that's really going to bother anyone except for the spoiled younger generation! I own close to 20 of these 50 packs and I'm glad I bought every single one of them!

No problem after I initially got two of the same disc and Amazon shipped me a replacement. I thought the purchase was worth the money.
