This grafting tool made grafting prunings from one tree to root stock suckers from a "dead" tree stump easy and successful. The tool makes precision matching cuts that help align and hold the graft to the host like two puzzle pieces. The kit comes with several wrapping tapes of different thicknesses and stretch. We pruned from a "Good" tree in February, harvesting scion wood which we kept sealed and refrigerated until April when we grafted them onto root suckers coming up from a "dead" tree that had been cut to a stump. The suckers were the same diameter as the scion wood. The grafts took with a decent success rate of 60%. We will ultimately keep just the most vigorous of the new grafts to shape into a replacement tree, but were impressed by how well this kit worked. Prior attempts to free hand graft resulted in much poorer results.

I used this to graft apples this year - my first grafting experience. Most of my grafts took - it was beyond what I expected given my lack of experience and some obvious mistakes on my part. The knife is helpful around the garden in general. Experiment with the tapes to find the ones that work best for your application - I went through all of them before I found the one that worked best.

I am quite happy with this product. I found the knife very sharp and the cutting pliers did a nice job. I did have some trouble with the tape. It did not seem to be attracted to itself so made wrapping the graft a bit of an issue when doing field grafts. I think a rubber band would be better in that instance. I do recommend this product.

I tried the special blades but just couldn't get the grafts to hold in alignment while I wrapped them, and they didn't take. Maybe my first time rookie skills? I had better luck just using the knife doing the split splices. Worked much better.

This is a very high-quality set of tools, especially for the money. The blades are extremely sharp (be very careful!). I have use this not only for grafting, but also for air layering.

The Grafting shear did a nice job of matching the end of the scions to the ends of the tree branches. Still waiting to see if any of the grafts took as this was my first time trying to graft anything (tried to graft a variety pack of 5 different types plumb scions to an existing plumb tree).

My husband is very happy with the grafting knife. Beats using an Exacto knife. But he didn't like the grafting tape. Says it's more like using plastic wrap. Still, the kit is a good deal, as he can keep everything together in one place.

I was looking for something like that for “ages”. It is a very good tool. The only problem was. That the package came “squeezed “ , like someone was sitting on it.Everything was OK. It is not the first time, when the packages are not “in good shape”.
