This tool is chain driven and will turn in both directions without the need for a switch selection. What is lacking is in sturdiness and build quality. My tool has a manufacturing defect where the seams and not fully welded together, leaving large gaps along the length of the seams. The chain driven mechanism has a lot of slop and you can feel the chain loosely slapping against the sides of the frame.
