Easy Install
This was a very good product for installing a handrail to newel posts at the top of my stairs. Instructions were clear enough regarding the marking out of the required holes. I did a practice go on an off cut of the handrail to make sure everything worked out correct. The only thing I would say is that quite a deep 25mm hole is required in the handrail to fit the tightening mechanism so be careful if your handrail is not very deep like mine was - I think it was a 35mm deep hole required. I purchased a 25mm flat drill to do the job but that had a long pilot tip on it which would have broken through the top of the handrail if I went straight to the required depth. Instead I had to start the hole with this, and then switch and use a hole saw (withouth the arbour bit installed) to get the hole to the correct depth. Then it was just a case of chipping out the plug of wood left from inside the rail. Fitting was a little tricky getting the pins aligned with the keyholes on the newels and I also had the spindles in place at the time, so a lot to align. Once everything was together, tightened the fixings and all a sucess. I was a bit wary of overtightening in case I stripped the threads though. Job completed and everything sturdy enough. I'm no carpenter but chuffed with how this all went!

A fantastic invention. Stairs are solid.
What a great little device. Highly recommended. These basically allow you to attach stair rails without drilling though and making a mess. I was amazed by how solid these made the stairs. They're not 100% easy to use (but not too hard either), I'd recommend giving it a quick try on an offcut to make sure you're drilling holes correctly (recommend using a forstner bit for the larger hole). They can be tightened with an allen key, or with a power tool (I'd set this on very low torque, then manually tightened the last few turns to avoid any possible thread stripping issues)

Idea fantastic -reality a hell of an item to fit so prepare for a challenge
Doesnt come with an allen key - ended up using a screwdriver in the hole as none I have would fit despite trying loads, the 25mm drill hole in the "rail" needs to be closer to the edge as the threaded bolt only just reaches if following the makers instructions and is way too close for comfort & safety imo. Concept fantastic but fitting of it very challenging (talking to an engineer with 40 + years experience.) Would buy again but it would fit better once "modified" - suggest you do a trial run to see what I am talking about and to get it right on the final assembly, although good luck finding an allen key that fits.

Good for Oak and wide bannisters. Screws make a quicker job maybe the same
Had a builder use this to try and make the job easier. The manual isn’t great so have to watch videos made in USA to see how it works. It was fitted to a pine hand rail, which is not as wide as ones used in USA so no room for error. Appeared to be better than using screws, although in the end the builder wasn’t sure, if you have Oak and wide rails they may be better. Not sure if I wasted money on these instead of using screws. Marked 5 stars still as they did the job

Bit tricky but I've got used to them now
Do a test joint on some scrap first to get the hang of it before you go drilling your nice handrails... this is a good solution and one of those things that when you did it once next time round its much quicker, my tip don't use power drill on these! Just do it up by hand as my first test failed when the thread stripped off of the bolt not the nut side when I used my cordless and I was being careful too! The nut is hardened but not the bolt? Cordless drills can be set up on the torque function but really not worth it taking a chance doesn't take a minute to do it up by hand and ease the joint together...
