I use it on a mic or music stand and once attached, it's very solid. The only thing I'd warn against is if you intend to use it for more than a single-sized tablet. There are two sets of plastic clips which fit on the end of the arms which hold the tablet and they're sized for different dimensions of device, one set for an iPad, one for an iPad Mini, for example. The clips have a snap-on, snap-off fitting and the clips are held VERY tightly on the supporting arms, so much so that it feels like they might well break before too long.
