I’m a small content creator and love taking videos. I always had a problem with my phone overheating so this case is the perfect solution for that. The case itself is very robust & feels super strong. The design is very simple and functional. Fits the phone like a glove. The best part is the various attachments that can supplement your photo and videography to give you high quality results. The interchangeable lens mount plates, the cold shoe mounts and provisions to attach their handle makes this versatile all-rounder a hit in my inventory. It is a bit bulky but it makes sense to have that sturdiness when you’re mounting other things on the case. I highly recommend this case.

I ordered this thing as soon as it dropped, but wasn't entirely sure what to expect. It's certainly a great quality product. Well made. One of the nicer case/cages like this I've had for a phone, for sure. Although, it's main function is a cage, and with that does come some limitations. It can be a bit bulky, which can be a lot on an already large phone. It's easy to pop open though and free your phone for more day to day use. I purchased mine for the lens attachment points (Which I haven't got a chance to take advantage of yet), and for the cage like functions that let me mount a microphone or mount it to a tripod. Both work out great. I noticed in the previous version, the buttons for the camera were a little inset. I wish this version had that too. As it is, they're flush with the edge of the cage. Reason this matters? When I have a tripod plate on the long end, on either side, I have to be careful about it not pressing the buttons. Boo! Not a huge deal though Anyway, if you need something like this, I'd totally recommend it. Fits the phone nice, is well constructed, is easy to take on and off. Just overall a great product!

For $15, this cage was a steal. It fits perfectly, feels sturdy, & all buttons remain fully accessible. I added a 67mm circular polarizer separately, & the magnetic adapter makes it quick & simple — exactly what I needed. Keep in mind it adds some weight, so it’s better suited for a more serious setup than a casual handheld rig. Bonus: not having the newest phone actually works in your favor here — compatibility is solid.

Made the phone too bulky

Box came opened. A first in my 15+ years of buying stuff on Amazon, so I was lucky. The box was indeed opened and the was hair attached to the sticky tape... I won't say what kind of hair or what part of the body it looks like it came from. Also, it was missing the round lens attachment. SO, all in all, pretty grossed out and disappointed. Sending back.

TLDR: Less is more. Bought it for shooting video, never take it off my iPhone now and has become a daily “case”. The best protective case I’ve had on any 13,14, or 15 - has stopped many drops rocks and dings from ever damaging phone. Literal perfect fit too. Only complaint is the case unlock for removal button is a little to big - can be sensitive and unlock case in your pocket/accidentally press it. This same design “flaw” however is also what makes it awesome- loading your phone slides and clicks just like a well machined magazine reload. So I just put a piece of gaffers tape on it - problem solved. Could be better but I honestly to god believe this protects my phone better than an otterbox or spec or full leather case - and it’s WAY slimmer than the competition.

Subsequent to posting this review, Smallrig reached out to me through the Amazon messaging system, of their own accord, and corrected the issue I was having with their cage; my many thanks to them. Moreover, this speaks obstreperously of Smallrig's interest in maintaining the integrity of their Brand, the character of their customer support, who obviously peruse all reviews concerning their products, and generally, the probity of the Smallrig company. I’m pleased that I am able to upgrade this review to 5-Stars. This cage, in combination with an iPhone, does make an excellent matrix around which to build a video rig. And along with this cage, I own a number of their other products. ____________________________ As someone involved in both photography and videography, and now with my recent acquisition of the SmallRig Mobile Phone Cage for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, it has dawned on me just how much I’ve come to depend on the outstanding quality and value of the various video/photo accessories, light modifiers and even cages and lenses for my mobile phone videography, produced by the SmallRig company. They have an obvious commitment to quality and a practical design aesthetic that I find appealing. The Smallrig Cage is manufactured to precise tolerances; you can almost hear the air rushing out between contact surfaces when the iPhone is being slid into the Cage’s protective rubber channel; all contact surfaces are rubberized to protect the phone. Installing the phone is quick and simple, thanks to a hinged latch. The tongue and groove designed latch itself is evidence of the thoughtful attention to detail Smallrig imbued in this Cage; it has an affirmative click when latched, and when needed, a quick release button to open the closure. However, given the tight fit of the iPhone within the inner rubber channel of the cage, what Smallrig didn’t do, and is truly an oversight in my opinion, is to provide a scalloped edge where the bottom of the phone is fitted, in order to provide a finger hold by which to push the phone out. Because the phone fits so tightly into the rubber channel, removing it becomes an unnecessary challenge, so much so, that at least in my case, it inhibits me from using the cage at all. Smallrig should have provided a rubber tipped pusher of some sort so that the phone can be pushed out from charging hole, or better yet, a more thoughtful design. Fabricated into the cage are the usual accessory mounting options, including a couple of cold-shoes and ¼” threaded holes all around to further build out a video rig. Accessories such as a portable light, microphone, handles, etc., can be attached, options offered by Smallrig themselves. There are alternate backplates available, sold separately, to accommodate different filter mounts. Also built-in, and unique to Smallrig’s cage, are quick release slots that accommodate pretty cool side handles from their Quick Release ecosystem. Additionally, the cage can be attached to a tripod or gimbal by one its ¼” threaded holes. Or, without anything attached, the cage itself, manufactured from lightweight aluminum, provides sleek, low-profile protection for the iPhone and allows for more stability when shooting handheld. This Smallrig Cage for iPhone 15 Pro Max is the matrix to a specific ecosystem of accessories and components so it is important to be clear as to whether or not it will accommodate gear you already own; read the description carefully for that information. This is the first time I’ve given a rating of less than 5-stars to any Smallrig gear I’ve reviewed, but unless I’m missing something, not designing into the cage a convenient means of removing the phone is really surprising. Getting the phone out is, without exaggeration, a struggle.

I ordered this when I upgraded my iPhone to the 15 pro max. As a photographer/videographer I also capture a lot of iPhone footage for social media for a few of my clients and also my own use. And I love having the ability to mount a microphone, ssd, or tripod/baseplate to my phone to make it a mini beast. It does make the 15 pro max feel a lot bigger as it’s a bigger case. My girlfriend has the same phone with a thinner case and you can definitely tell a difference. People with small hands might have a harder time holding the phone once they put this on 😂 the quality is nice and the hinge that opens to put the phone inside works well. I’m ADHD and constantly click it open and closed and the hinge has had no problems. The only thing I worry about sometimes is dropping the phone and breaking the back glass since it’s just a frame. BUT the cameras are plenty protected and that’s what I care about the most

Tenía un case similar para el iPhone 13 Pro y al cambiar de iPhone decidí actualizarlo. Este tiene las mismas funcionalidades: conexión para una (o más) agarraderas y cold shoe para poner una lámpara. Se siente mejor al agarre que el pasado y en esta ocasión la rejilla para el lente no cubre la sección del magsafe. Es una gran herramienta para generadores de contenido
