Colour turned out not midnight black though, it's more like dark blue but it is very even and actually really nice colour. Easy to use in washing machine, clear instrustions and great result. The packet includes instructions for doing it both ways. I had spilt bleach on a favourite pair of (red) trousers. Firstly I bleached the whole thing in a bowl to get it even (as the dye most likely wouldn't evenly cover a small bleach stain). After washing and drying, I followed the instructions for dying in a bowl - soaked for one hour in hot water with the dye. I stirred it with a wooden spoon every 15 mins for one hour. Then rinsed in cold water until the water ran near-enough clear. Then put in the washing machine and washed on a standard 40C cycle. Did an empty wash cycle on the machine afterwards in case any residue remained.
