Do i need to order a smaller size frame than the actual canvas size? i have a 24x36 inch canvas so do i need a 24x36" frame or should i go smaller?

The height of the bar is 1.25 inchThe extra 1.0 inch will be trimmed off, providing a 0.5 inch border when mounting. In order to wrap the image around the sides of the frame, the final size of the canvas must be at least 3.5 inch larger than the stretcher bars.So 20.5x32.5 will fit your pictureYou can Order 24x36 ,we will resize for you. is the groove in the boards wide enough to use for framing stained glass?

I am not really sure. It is not very wide. The glass would have to be very think. It is designed to stretch canvas.

The color is pretty much what you see in the pictures it just un-varnished wood. Technically once you stretch a canvas across it you wont even see the wood.
