Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (Wii)

My son had asked for the newer verson for christmas but the price and the fact that he had never played them before put me off. So I opted for this earlier version thinking that they may follow a story. But that doesn't matter as soon as my son played on it he forgot all about the newer version and loves this now.

For all you people that loved New Super Mario Brothers (Wii) and want some more great 2d platformer action fun for your Wii then Donkey Kong Jungle Beat should be your next stop. You play Donkey Kong using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controls. Our hero has some cool moves such as the "Clap Attack" which is done by shaking the Wii Remote or Nunchuk and you can tilt the control stick when clapping to direct the sound wave. The "Hand Slap" is done by shaking one of your controllers too but you need to press down on Nunchuk control stick so that Donkey Kong is crouching down. The "Wall Jump" is done the same way as Super Mario's wall jump and "Air Grab" is easy, you just press the A button when you are in mid-air which good for grabbing all those bananas. To do the "Backflip" press the A button while crouching and for the mega "Ground Pound" press the B or Z button in mid-air to hit the ground which creates a big sound wave. Some of the boss battles against the evil Kongs are similar in style to "Wii Sports Boxing". Donkey Kong has a wide range of friends that he can ride through the jungle, snow, sky and the sea. Flurl, Hoofer, Helibird and Orco are all great fun companies that make this excellent platformer even more of a blast to play. Jungle Beat has wonderful 2d graphics and the music is really catchy too. The only thing that would have made this game a bit better is for it to be longer in length.

I found the Donkey Kong game to be fun and immensly enjoyable to play. My son loves it, and took great joy in showing me all the fun moves he could do. Just more Nintendo fun.

The gameplay is fast paced and fun, and rewards skill by requiring you to chain together as many actions as possible in order to unlock secret levels, however, the game is still fully completable for any player regardless of skill level. The music is also great, full of happy and upbeat tunes to really get your blood pumping as you caveat through each stage. Lastly, the improved controls over the gamecube original make this a must own game for people just looking to have a fun time!

I was a kid when the first Donkey Kong's for SNES came out. This one is an excellent tribute to them. Music: A++++ a lot of remakes and new stuff that is all really well done. Controls are flawless. Graphics are ok, to be honest I miss the rendered SNES graphics. Gameplay is tough! A lot of new and creative ideas went into this and the game is definitely worth buying.

It's the best game I've ever played

This game is a mix between Wii Fit and a regular Donkey Kong game. You must shake the Wiimote in certain situations to win the objective. PROS * good exercise * good clean fun * motion control * after-goal minigames of collecting bananas (shaking controllers as quickly as you can) * great graphics for 480p CONS * sweating while playing a game (although some parents may disagree) * defeating bosses were tedious and detracted from the game * catching fruit during boss battles * catching fruit and then having Kong throw the fruit the wrong way during boss battles Conclusion: I feel this could have been a 5 star game, but the boss battles depended so much on timing. The bosses can be defeated once you learn how(I watched walk-through videos on youtube). This game however does provide a great way to get kids moving by clapping and waggling, and uses the Wiimote and nunchuck masterfully.
