In the winter I use plastic clipped to the hoops to protect my cactus from rain and frost. in the summer I have shade cloth clipped to the hoops. They have survived wind and rain with no breakage. They did come apart at the ferrules in the wind, put it back together, no problems. To keep them from flopping around I drilled a piece of 1/4 x 1.5 inch lath in the appropriate places and threaded the piece for the top of the hoop through the holes. I have provided pictures to show you what I have done. The hoop is based on a 4 foot width, and takes 6 pieces to form the hoop. For a 10 to 12 foot row length this took me 4 hoops to be sturdy enough. This time I ordered the L PRO version. So far these look the same. Except these are a dark green color, and the clips that come with these is dark green as well. I am trying these on my larger vegetable garden.
