Seems to work just fine. It is not for alcohol that hasn't been distilled. IT WILL NOT WORK FOR UNDISTILLED ALCOHOL. It will not read alcohol for beer etc.

Came via UPS wrapped in bubblewrap and inside a box with the large bubble wrapping. I tested the alcohol hydrometer against _known_ proofs using 190 Everclear and 80 proof Vodka. It was very close in both proofing and alcohol content. It was about 4 proof points low on the Everclear (186), assuming my Everclear was really 190 proof. I tested on some moonshine and it read what I expected based on 'visual beading' of the heads, hearts and tails. ATTENTION: This is not for determining alcohol content in your mash before distillation! Pro's: Easy to read scale for proofing and alcohol content. Comes packed in a plastic protective box Insert explains testing alcohol at different room temperatures and how much to add or subtract from reading. Con's: Don't really see any at this time. It is fragile for sure so if you are a bit clumsy, buy two. P.S. Does not come with a testing tube so you will need to get one. Get a GLASS one. On a related note: I used the PLASTIC testing tube that came with my Triple scale hydrometer (for mash) that I also purchased here at Amazon. Works properly seems to be dead on or close. Was going to test it with some everclear for accuracy, but I haven't yet.

I wish I had known to buy this before I began distilling my alcohol, because the only other hydrometer I had was for the mash, which is used BEFORE you distill. Now I know! If you want to make whisky, buy this for your distilling and get a different one for the mash that can do lower readings. This one is only for higher readings and it doesn't come with a test tube so make sure you get a tube before you buy this.

Works fine

First 1 came broken. If you've never owned 1 of these, they are very fragile. Very thin glass. I Don't think it was a packaging issue but mishandling issue by the carrier. With a little talk with customer service, they had a new 1 on the way at no charge. Just came in and it looks great. Nice looking unit for the price.

Exactly as described works well

1st time user, At first i was assuming it may not have been working. Decided to try different fluids with alcohol content. This is meant to used in distilled products, Products that have a more finished product that is Alcohol and water. Not meant for orange juice with a bunch of Alcohol in it. The sugars and other products can still cause this Hydrometer to float. Works Great. Have this Hydrometer numerous times for distil runs. Very happy.

VERY ACCURATE! A MUST HAVE!!!!

We tried our hand at making our own vodka, we wanted to know what the alcohol content was in it… We bought this and tried it out on our vodka, and tried it out on store-bought vodka, and it was very accurate. I’d recommend this 😁

Accurate but very delicate. Broke one shaking a drop off.
