Gets the job done
Update: Was struggling feathering sticks and found the edge to be beveled making the edge not bite to shave off the wood. Re-profiled at 25 degrees and now it is much better. Knife is a great value, just needed a little love. Just to start, this is not the best knife I have ever used, but it is the good knife at this price and does everything I need it to do at a campsite. Feathering wood for fire, sharpening a marshmallow stick, drilling a divot for fire bow, and any other normal camp duty I needed. I dont baton much. Out of the box I needed to do a little sharpening, not a big deal. The sheaths leather feels great but does not hold the knife well, so I'll poke another hole or make a new strap. Not deal breakers just something to note. 1066 steel is strong (used in swords) but is not the best at retaining an edge. Though if you abuse your knife like the youtubers, 1066 is better for you as steel that holds an edge longer, tends to be more brittle. Handle is pinned but the shape is fantastic for my hands. I wear a large cadet golf glove for reference. For the price, this knife is great and something I'm not afraid to use. Very happy with this purchase. Other fixed knives I own for reference. Becker BK2, bk7, bk17, machaxe. All great, BK17 is my favorite for camping. Schrade SCHF36CP (thing is a beast) Ontario 18" machete, Rat-5 - Good knife, just dont love it for some reason. Lionsteel b41, great bushcraft knife, 3x the cost of this one and not 3x better.

5 star knife, 3 star sheath
This is a great knife. The DBK boys and BPS really hit this one out of the park as far as the blade itself is concerned. However, despite being very well made from thick, richly dyed leather, the sheath leaves a lot to be desired. The retention strap does nothing to hold the knife secure in the sheath. As demonstrated in DBK's YouTube video featuring this blade, you can shake the knife right out of the sheath with very little effort. Luckily, this can be easily remedied. The BPS sheath that is available for sale here on Amazon currently for $17, the one that comes with the B1 and the BS2 models, will also fit the DBK knife. It does ride very deep in the sheath so that only about an inch of the tang of the knife is exposed, so I'd recommend a lanyard to help with that, but the B1/BS2 sheath is otherwise snug and fits great. The included firesteel is a nice diameter, throws good sparks, and is put together well. It's a great bit of kit easily worth half the asking price of the entire package. For the fifty dollar price tag, this is a phenomenal value. I'd have rated this item 4 stars if the factory sheath weren't at least functional, but it does work even if it doesn't have good retention so I'm giving it full marks.

Excellent Knife, Poor Sheath
The knife is really excellent, especially for the money. Compact, sturdy, and ergonomic. However, while the sheath is excellent quality. the design is very lacking. It does not retain the knife well at all with the retaining strap design. Unless it works for another knife you have, toss the sheath in the circular file. If you buy this knife, plan on also buying the BPS sheath used for the Adventurer or B1 as a much better sheath choice. I had a couple of spare BPS SH06 sheaths laying around (under $20) so it worked out fine for me. But you should factor in the extra cost of a decent sheath when considering buying this knife.

Amazing quality for the price!
Bought the first one, the sheath sucked but the knife and fire steel were great. Got this version and the knife and sheath are awesome! Very quality... and the back is still sharp and should strike a fire steel well... not this fire steel tho it sucks. otherwise the package is amazeing.. Im giving it 5 stars because of the value for what you get. replace the fire steel tho. EDIT: apparently you need to scrape off a decent amount of protective coating on the fire steel before you get to the good stuff, and then it strikes very nicely. 10/10

Very impressive budget knife.
Great knife for the price. Very sharp. Sheath is well made. Knife fits the hand perfectly. Has a good weight. I did have to tighten up the handle screws not a big deal.

BPS Knives Bushmate - best value knife for $50? Yes!
The BPS Bushcraft knife was as described in the listing, and in the DBK you-tube review. For the price, this is the best working knife around. The blade is sharp out of the box. A couple of minutes on a strop and it was slicing paper. The handle is ok. It isn't a Bark River handle, but the knife is also a fraction of the price. So, in reference to the price, it is a high quality, functional handle. The sheath is ok. The leather is high quality. The retaining strap is decorative as it does not retain the knife. The knife can be pulled out of the sheath with the retaining strap closed. Again, for the price, this is not a complaint, merely an observation. This is a very functional, usable survival/bushcraft knife. This is a knife that can be used, and used hard. The 1066 steel probably is prone to rust if not properly cared for. However, the steel is easy to sharpen. Overall, I would buy again from BPS and am glad to have learned about their products.

Great and sturdy blade. Does everything I need it to do in the woods, and it is not heavy to carry. Carves amazingly. It also does everything around the grill too. It batons and does fire preparation without any damage, I can leave my hatchet at home. Heat treatment must be good. Remember it is carbon steel and do maintenance, and it should last.

Bra kniv. Men mycket dåligt knivfodral. Inte genomtänkt allas. Kniven faller ur trots jag modifierat den.

Crazy knife for the price. Beautiful leather sheet, beautiful firestarter en perfectly honest service. If I could give 10 stars I would. The price makes it a no brainer for yourself or as a gift ✌️
