I bought this to use a 220V game console in America and it works flawlessly! I ran it for about an hour and it was still cold to the touch

Bought this transformer when going on a mission trip to Southeast Asia. I connected two 500W speakers and a sound board with no issues as long as I did turn the speakers up to max power. This is a very sturdy and durable transformer that lasted me all 5 days on the ground under various environmental conditions. Yes, it's heaver but so are all transformers with the same ratings, it's a result of the iron core and copper windings. Weights similar to this are unavoidable.

I have used this daily since buying it two months ago and it works great with my food processor that I brought from the UK. It is easy to use with clear markings. It is a little heavy but I guess that's unavoidable for a heavy duty transformer

Having read horror stories on comparable products, I tested the one I receives immediately. I will be staying in Europe for a few months and I wanted to be sure this product worked. I hooked it up to the dryer outlet (240 volts) and plugged a 110 volts heater on the converter. The heater on "low" pulled almost 5 amps, roughly 560 watts. After 30 minutes, the temperature of the unit was 92 deg. (the ambient temp. was 90). At that point, I was satisfied and stopped the test. I did not check the ground continuity. Packaging was adequate.

I got this product delivered today. Even though the item was marked as "Sold by All Region World via Amazon Fulfillment", the packing was pathetic. This item weighs around 10 lbs and the unit was packed in a smaller box with very little or no padding. The quality of the packing box was so bad that it was crumpled. With the result, the corners of the metallic casing of the unit were deformed. The unit might have been tossed so much by UPS that the transformer inside the unit shakes and has left an impression on the top surface of the casing. I have decided to return this unit and order it directly from the manufacturer. After the first use, I found it runs quietly, no usual transformer humming sound, doesn't heat much (I plugged in a vacuum cleaner for 5-10 minutes). I am yet to test it over an extended period. I'll update this review soon to let you know how this unit performs. I would recommend you buy this item probably directly from the manufacturers site or pick it up from a store, but not from "All Region World". I am saying this because, I feel this seller called "All Region World" also called as "Tapan Sheth" on Amazon, doesn't care about whether the unit reaches you in good shape or condition. Overall I'll give this product a 4 stars for now (May change it once I test the replacement unit). I am not sure about the assembly part of it. Either the poor packing disturbed the transformer fitting inside or it came out of factory that way. I hope the former is true. PROS: 1. Compact unit 2. No transformer humming noise 3. Doesn't heat much CONS: 1. Factory packing box is not strong enough to secure the 10 lbs unit. Make sure you order with a supplier that packs it well. 2. You don't really know the exact output voltage you are getting out. Everybody does not carry voltmeters. A small digital display on the face showing output voltage would be nice. UPDATE: 5/18/2010 Ordered this item from the manufacturer site ($5 less than Amazon with free shipping). 5/20/2010 The negative feedback that I left for "All Region World" on Amazon disappeared after a day. This is really useful, when you have family and friends that are living in Asia or other parts world using 220-240V supply. i) It works well ii) It comes with a spare fuse, which I used up on day one (I forgot to switch over from 110-230V a red switch on the back of the transformer) It is 5-star since it works as described and I have not had any issues with driving it at 750W.

Exactly what I needed. It's portable, quiet and does the job

After having returned to Amazon a 1000W unit from a different brand (excellent Amazon service!) after it malfunctioned less than 5 months after delivery, I ordered this item. It came well packed and was very simple to install. No noise, no heating (I checked several times, even after a complete day of use). This unit seems to do what I expect it to do at a reasonable price.
