Can this be used as spearfishing reel line?

It's very stiff initially, does get softer over time but still stiff enough that using a small diameter reel will slow the spear substantially.

How do you loosen the adjusters when they are under tension? (other than pulling a stake to eliminate tension first...)

The adjusters can be loosened by flipping the whole buckle upwards, and this can be done with a finger and is totally easy to do. No need to pull a tent peg. I am going to upload a video on YouTube today showing how they function, so watch out for that.
