Comfort was what made me buy these...
...some how, I wish I could remember the guy who recommended this, if you are out there my friend, I salute you; you are amazing... Okay, I have bought headphones in ear and outer ear headphones for years, I have a wish list, but for now I was looking for a good pair of everyday head phones, I found them, Sony DJ Style Headphones MDR-V55/BR (robust, simple, far better than inner ear headphones and good enough for all things, movies to music). Everything the reviewers said was true, two things I ignored, the length of the cord and the way the ear cups sit on your actual ear. So yes, it would be great to have more length, but the flat red cord is awesome (I can live with that), but what I couldn't live with is how sore the ear cartilage and general area around the ear got/gets when wearing the headphones, it is painful. I can usually put up with stuff, but it was not a joy to listen to good headphones with this sort of discomfort for long periods... Okay, so just as I thought, well, let's buy another set of headphones that do not sit directly on my ear, the genius I wish I could give credit to for showing me the link and video on youtube for 'Brainwavz replacement memory foam earpads came along... I was really nervous, because the Sony headphones were not on the list he was reviewing, because of the discomfort, I just took a chance, the price was worth the risk... I put on the replacement set today, and the first thing I said to myself, wa-what? This not only looks good, was easy to refit, (find a video on youtube, that's why I knew what to do), but it was amazing, the new look changed my headphones to look like an expensive pair of headphones... Just to check, I only put on one cup first, I then put them on my ear to compare the replacement and the original cup, it was ridiculous, the comfort level made me smile - GREAT CHOICE - really glad I took the risk... So as expected, I replaced both, so here is the review in short, if you want comfort, buy Brainwavz replacement memory foam ear-pads... They look amazing, it makes me wonder if this is all companies do to turn a lower priced head phone into a higher priced etc... Lastly, all my previous headphones after time flake and then you are left with cloth and foam that looks like a snake has shed his skin; so there will be no flaking on these... Brainwavz ear pads are designed for comfort and style, with the outer material made from high quality Protein PU Leather and the inner padding made from high grade memory foam. If you want to make good headphones better, do it; I am so happy I did... Headphone Compatability: Brainwavz HM5 AKG 701 Q701 Audio Technica ATH-M50 (and all other M50 sub models) Shure SRH 440 Koss DJ100 / DJ200 Takstar HI 2050 and Pro 80 Ultrasone HF 580 / SH 1 Pro / HFI 780 Sony MDR V6 / ZX 700 Fostex T50RP T50 M-Audio Q40 JVC S500S Memory Foam: All Brainwavz ear pads are constructed with high grade memory foam. Memory foam moulds beautifully to the shape of the head, creating a tight seal and a truly comfortable fit. When not in use the ear pads return to their original shape - maximum comfort and longer lasting.

Love them. I have large ears (and head) they ...
TLDR: Love them. I have large ears (and head) they fit me perfectly. I would buy these again in a heart beat with out hesitation. Pros: Large. They go around my ear, making the entire pad a contact surface not creating a pressure point. There is no pressure on any part of my ear. Soft. The memory foam feels good, the pleather is high quality, and soft. Looks good (for the size). Increased Sound Stage. (drivers are further from your ear) Cons: Very slight loss of Bass. (drivers are further from your ear) Nothing the Manufacturer can do about that other than make the pads less thick... but then you're back in the same boat as the OEM pads... This bass drop was very very slight for me. Others have claimed ZERO bass. I didnt' have this issue. Honestly, it's barely noticeable for me. But I have large ears, and the pads are sealing well for me, so perhaps their heads are shaped differently and they aren't getting a good seal. Headphones fall off my head more easily.. ESP while looking down at my feet. (getting something out of a backpack for example) I ordered white. The material that allows it to attach to the headphone is an off white cream color. I wish it was the same color as the rest of the pad. It looks out of place. Other thoguhts: I'm already self conscious about wearing these headphones around (ATX M50x) because of the size. I feel like people look at me and think "what is this guy wearing"... well these pads just make that worse. They are absolutely HUGE now. I have custom IEMs that I wear when i'm out and about mainly because of sound isolation and looks. I prefer the sound of over ear headphones over IEMs but if you're wearing these around a lot then it may be something to consider... maybe I shouldn't care what others think. I had them on for about 4 hours straight the first day I got them with very little ear fatigue. After an hour break, had another 3 hour session and my ears weren't hurting. I've worn them about 5-6 hours a day for a week and it's amazing how improved the comfort is. I couldn't wear the headphones (ATH M50x) for more than 2 hours before with out my ears hurting and me constantly adjusting the headphones trying to relieve pressure points. Now I have no issues. The attached photos use my 15" RMBP for a size reference, as well as the carrying bag included with my ATH-M50x.

These pads are definately better than the stock Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT and the ATH-M20xBT
First of all, I am a retired High School Band Director. I listen very critically to music with my earphones. I have been using Audio-Technica Earphones continuously for the last 15 years. First with the ATH-M40fs and most recently my new Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT. The reason is for the excellent sound they produce. It has never been for their comfort. Actually, the stock ear pads on both models appear the same. They both are equally uncomfortable. I wear glasses and they both sit somewhat on my ears because they are just too small to sit over my ears. I received my new ATH-M50xBT Earphones only a couple of weeks ago. I am thrilled with them because they sound great. Also they have Bluetooth so I don't need to be tied to the music source with a long cable. I discovered through the internet that the ear pads are replaceable with upgraded pads. I also discovered that I am not the only person that find the stock ear pads uncomfortable. Thanks to Amazon, I was able to research all of the upgraded ear pads and read all of the reviews. I finally decided on the Brainwavz Ear Pads in PU Leather and I am glad I did. These pads are very comfortable and they cover my ears which also blocks out the ambient sound around me and keeps the music from leaking out and disturbing others. I am very happy with the sound of my earphones with these new pads. There was a slight change in sound from the stock pads. I actually like the sound better due to the over the ear pads and because my ears are further from the speakers. You have to understand, I am a retired band director and I love live music. I want to hear the instruments as if I was in amongst the band members. I don't like my music distorted with equalizers. It surprised me that there were so many complaints from others of poor sound quality. It could be the equalizer issue or maybe it is due to how their equalizer is set. I have no complaints. I like these replacement pads so much I plan on buying another set of these pads for my M40fs earphones. Well I went ahead and purchased the Audio-Technica ATH-M20xBT. The sound is great but again they had the same ear pads as the 50s. I began to have problems with fatigue and discomfort with the ear pads. Therefor, I ordered the Brainwavz Ear Pads in PU Leather. What a pleasant difference in comfort and much less fatigue. The sound is better as well. I added a few more photos. I am definitely sold on Brainwavz Ear Pads.

High on comfort, mixed on sound
This review is for the Brainwavz Black Memory Foam Pads, synthetic leather, non-angled. I am using them on the Audio Technica M50x. Overall, I like them. There are some trade-offs to be aware of, however. I can see how some people will like them while others won't. First and foremost, these are well made, very comfortable pads. The synthetic material is very soft and despite how difficult they are to put on, they didn't rip apart. These memory foam pads are a definite step up in comfort over the stock pads, and I didn't think the stock pads were all that bad. The biggest difference is the clamping pressure is reduced vs. the stock pads, and that is a welcome change. My only complaint about the construction is I think they could have used slightly thicker and less scratchy fabric to line the part of the pad that covers the driver. It's the only part of the pad that feels a little on the cheap side. This probably won't be an issue for most, but one of my ears manages to rub the liner just enough to be somewhat distracting. So, do they really change the sound? Yes. I listened to a few tunes on the stock pads and then proceeded to play the same tracks once I put the new pads on. How you feel about the changes will be a matter of personal preference. My impressions: -Bass does not extend quite as deep, but may sound a little more natural with these pads. Some reviewers of the m50x say the headphones are flat, but this is not true. They definitely have a noticeable emphasis on the low end that can sometimes border on muddy, but I find myself thinking the bass is *slightly* more defined with the new pads on. Still, this is something to consider if you are a bass head. The bass is still there and enjoyable, it's just less emphasized. -While bass extension is the most noticeable change, there are some additional changes to the sound between these pads and the stock pads. Namely, a very minor widening of the sound stage. We are talking minor, folks. Don't buy these pads thinking they are suddenly going to provide an open-back soundstage on closed cans like the m50x's. That is not happening. In short, instruments and vocals sound like they have a little more space. Things sound a little less condensed in your head. Mids and highs... nothing major here. I can almost convince myself that highs are more transparent, and maybe they are, but not at the cost of additional/quicker fatigue. Summary- These are soft, squishy, memory foam pads that make my listening experience more comfortable. The fabric liner could be more substantial. Bass is less emphasized (good or bad, depending on your likes), the soundstage receives the slightest of improvements, and I perceive no real difference in mids and highs.

Excellent replacement pads for MDR-7506
I purchased these with the hope that they would fit the Sony MDR-7506 headphones, despite not being specifically listed among the compatible headphones, and that the heavy lining would better control sound-leakage than the stock earpads. Fit:: To my delight, they fit very nicely. I wouldn't call it a "perfect" fit, but its close enough that I'll be the only one knowing that they could have fit better (and even then I didn't care after an hour of listening). Leakage:: My stock pads were wearing heavily, and as a result, would leak like a rusty faucet, annoying my co-workers from as far away as 2-3 cubicles, at moderate volume. These new pads, with the dense memory phone, and thick faux leather liningprovides far superior isolation. I can have my music at full volume, and my nearest coworkers can barely hear my music (until I pull them off my head, at which point all bets are off!); inversely, even at low-volume I typically won't hear co-workers trying to get my attention (double bonus!). Comfort:: I expected the pads, with their faux leather to be sweaty, and eventually become uncomfortable, but it was a risk I was willing to take for the sound isolation. To my surprise, they are actually more comfortable, both short and long-term, than the stock pads. No sweaty ears yet... They also have a slightly larger inside diameter over the stock pads, so they truly no longer rest on, or otherwise touch my elephant ears. Sound Quality:: I read a few of the other reviews that suggested the bass response was lost slightly with these pads. While I can confirm this, it is MINOR. More noticeable to me, it seems, is a drop overall in loudness. I felt like maxing my DAC/amp previously would really pound my eardrums (to the point of not wanting my music that loud), whereas with these pads I can comfortably listen at full volume for extended periods (even occasionally wishing I could get a little more punch). I suspect this is a result of restricted airflow (and thus improved isolation). Overall:: I was debating spending $200-300 on a new pair of headphones with larger pads and better isolation, but figured "What the hell! I'll spend $20 in the hopes of saving myself $200". It was a bet well wagered. These pads are fantastic, and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. I am curious to see how they hold up long-term, but based purely on the quality of the materials and the feel of the construction, I expect they will last me far longer than my stock pads (I've owned my Sony's for nearly 15 years, and have replaced the pads twice; ie, about 5 years per set of pads).

A Premium Upgrade
If there's one knock against the Audio Technica ATH-M50x's it's that they can really clamp down on your noggin. Some blame it on the earpads but I think it's just the sheer force on the side of your head. I could feel significant pressure on the side of my face and upper jaw. Not pain so much as just noticeable pressure. I've been stretching the headband to help alleviate but it didn't help enough and I didn't want to stretch it out too much. This brought me to search and find the Brainwavz earpads. I had seen reviews from other M50x owners and knew they'd at least fit. I felt the larger size and memory foam would make up the difference. My only real concern was from owners that said they changed the sound of their headphones. I've seen reviews from some people who swear by it and others who said it didn't make a difference. Now I have them on and can definitely say there's a difference. They not only feel good but actually sound better! The pressure isn't 100% gone but is significantly better. I don't notice it the same way I did with the original pads and can keep them on much longer without being reminded of them. I knew they'd feel good from the moment I took them out of the package. Talk about soft! The leather and the feel of squeezing the memory foam inspire confidence that you're in for a treat when these get around your ears. They really get around them too. At least around mine. No part of my ear is touching the pads. Getting them on was easy too. Taking off the old pads gives a good idea of how to put the new ones on. I started from the top by placing the edge of the pad in the ridge around the speaker then inserted the rest by placing my fingers inside the pad and stretching it over the ridge in a circle, working my way back to the top. It was pretty easy on the first try. Sound wise, as I said, I think they sound better. I was a little worried that once I attached these nice pads, that the great sound I was used to would change. I had some tracks picked out that had nice clarity and bass and I didn't notice a drop in either. If anything, they sound more spacious. I guess that's the "soundstage" I always hear about in reviews. It somehow sounds larger, possibly due to the fact that there's now more space around my ears. That's a nice bonus. I'd have been just as happy if there were no change at all. Overall, I found these to be a worthwhile investment. My headphones that had a strike against them are now perfect and now have a more premium look and feel. Speaking of looks, the brown is a fine match for my limited edition green and brown M50x's and is nearly indistinguishable in lower lighting. Another nice bonus. I'd definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a more comfortable feel from their headphones. It's a premium feature usually found on more expensive headphones but at an affordable price. Highly recommended.

It's a real shame.....
I NEEDED these to work out. And working out consisted of ONE thing... Just ONE... Being the same color as the "dark red" ear cushions that are pictured in the images above. Hell, my wife and I even went through the pics contained in this review section, and from what we saw, they looked to be just about precisely the color that I need, so I figured, as did she, that these would work out as near to perfectly as one might expect to be able to match one thing to another, when the two things are manufactured by completely different people.... But... I opened the little zipper bag containing the new Brainwavez ear cushions, and as soon as I laid eyes on them outside of the frosted freezer baggie they are shipped in, I knew they weren't going to work. It wasn't even close. And the dark red on Amazon was the exact opposite, it was so almost dead on that it didn't even take any thought whether or not it would be the dark red or the plain red red. See, what I am attempting to match up, as best I can at least, is a set of ear cushions to the components included in a BOOSTER PACK for the new SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless for XBOX headset. I purchased the headset, and I play XBOX Series X, so I was a little perturbed with the fact that SteelSeries seems to have done it backwards, between their Arctis Nova 7X Wireless and their Arctis Nova Pro Wireless for XBOX headsets, in that they included the XBOX green headband with the 7X, and they left the Pros for XBOX the same color as the other two different types of Pros. So they are just a metallic-ish finish (the two plates that adorn the exterior of the earcups atop where the battery is stored on one side, and the USB-C charging port on the other) that is just a few shades lighter than the almost black metallic-ish finish of the rest of the headset... It looks good... For a set of really nice headphones... But I didn't purchase this headset to use as a pair of headphones. I purchased these strictly to kick a$$ playing on my XBOX, and when I spend $350 on a headset for XBOX, I personally have an expectation that the manufacturer at least TRY to make it match the Microsoft XBOX theme. It doesn't need to be over the top, but I WANT to se some XBOX green somewhere on the headset. Especially knowing that they make two other wireless sets that are not XBOX headsets. I would want someone to be able to look at my headset and know just by looking at it for a few seconds, that it is a headset that is used with an XBOX. And how would a manufacturer go about accomplishing that? Easy, you incorporate the single coolest color associated with any video game console or corporation out there these days.... XBOX Green of course!! But that was the ONLY, and I repeat, the ONLY way that SteelSeries came even close to anything that could even maybe, possibly, be seen as a fail as it would pertain to the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless for XBOX headset! Because quite literally, this headset is gaming headset perfection in every possible way! Even the things I 've heard some complain about, like the ANC (it works GREAT on my headset for me at the house and cuts out all background noise!), and the ANC internal mics (they do not touch my ears at all, and I have a pretty huge head, and sizeable ears tho too!! So if there was ever a lobe that would be bothered, I would think mine would be it! Plus, I'm not sure why, but here lately, I've had some pretty S^%$ luck... Aside from scoring with my Arctis Nova Pro Wireless for XBOX headset!! Because purchasing that thing was nothing but a straight up WIN! I mean, even now, without the adapters I purchased for them, and the new Dark Red ear cushions attached to them... They are AMAZING and I LOVE everything about them. So much so, that I cannot bare to see their handsome build tainted by fastening some rag-tag brownish-red looking ear cushions to them! I would rather just keep the original black leatherette cushions on them and keep on gettin it, factory/OEM style!! At any rate.... Brainwavez..... You guys need to get some more accurate pics of your products up here, because this difference is inexcusable, and I was trying to give you guys a try over WC, which seems to be where EVERYBODY goes for aftermarket cushions anyway, but I figured "hey, what can it hurt? I get some cushions that match my headset almost exactly, AND I'll get to save a few bucks over the competition!" SIKE!!! Epic Fail on the matching colors, and as far as fit goes, I won't get t try because I am not putting these horrendous looking pads on my nice a$$ headset. Time to go try somewhere else.... SMH

If you have Audio Technica M50's, get these!
My Story: I've had my Audio Technica M50's for about two years now. The earpads were good for a while, but they always hurt my ears as the pad sat directly on the ear, and I couldn't wear for more than half of an hour. This led to them sitting on a shelf for nearly 3 months until I got a new job that allowed me to listen to music. I fell in love with the sound all over again, but my ears still hurt. After doing a lot of reading on Head-Fi, I found these and saw people putting them on their M50's, so I gave it a shot. It was the best decision I could have made. How they feel and look: They aren't Beats or Sony 1000 series soft, but they are a MASSIVE improvement. They are VERY soft, and they completely envelope my ears, so the comfort is an out of this world comparison to my old, cracked, ripping, earpads. They do not have an all leather material in black, so I got the dark red and black. They look pretty great. The day I got these in the mail, I used them to game for a solid 8 hours only taking them off to stretch and go to the bathroom etc. (Don't judge my Friday night choices) How they sound: If you've used an equalizer on your M50's, you probably realize the clarity and bass potential they have. These earpads do reduce the punchiness and intensity of bass, but the soundstage changes in more ways than that. I found that even though they are stereo headphones, the 3D effect was increased due to them being farther away from my ears, and that sound isolation is much much better. PROS: Comfort, More balanced soundstage, Improved 3D sound, Nice packaging, They look great, Just buy them already. CONS: A little bit tricky to get on, and there were no available pads in black that were all leather like material. Notes: I included a picture below, and set my camera to capture the dark red of the earpads as real as I see it in person.
