Perfect for a HSS plus top strat with a few modifications.
Put this on an older Fender HSS Plus top (2017-18) Strat. The supplied screws were longer and thinner than the ones on it, which was a wing type tree, so I reused the original screw. The last thing you want is to break off a screw in the headstock installing this. This exactly matches the string tree used on a 1990 American strat which is what I was looking for. Like the older one, it has a dimple underneath, so you have to drill a small hole above the original installation hole. I located the hole by carefully tightening down the tree just enough to indent where the hole needs to go. I then by hand, using my fingers, spun a .059 drill bit to make a shallow impression. The dimple hole is smaller than the original screw hole. It stops the tree base from spinning with any unequal string tension. It is not a roller tree, Ok, a little anal, I know!

Great for the price
These are typical off brand retainers, but they work very well, bo burrs or nicks to break strings, and they install easily.

Great alternative
Have bought these twice to replace stock Strat & Tele string trees, both times they look better and do a great job. Strings travel much easier through these than the stock ones. Only thing to note: they have a small pin on the base to maintain their alignment, requiring you to drill a small pilot hole for their installation. i.e. an extra 5 mins of work when replacing stock string trees. Worth the effort.

Squire Replacement String Trees
I bought these to replace the factor squire/fender trees on my Squire Mustang. These have a small dimple on them, so requires a small modification if you are swapping yours out. *I simply slacked the strings and moved them to the side *Removed the existing tree *Placed the dimple of the new tree in the existing hole *Used an Awl to mark the center of the hole for the existing tree (see photos) *Used a 1/16th drill bit to ever-so-slightly expand the hole *Place the string tree dimple in the new hole, and use the provided screw to fasten the new tree in the existing string tree hole. The two holes will be very close together, so just be mindful if you use an Awl not to "merge" the tops of the two holes. The hole needed for the dimple is very small - I started with the awl and checked the dimple multiple times and gradually increased the size. Just be patient. Overall took me about 35 minutes and taking my time. Could do it in 5 minutes knowing the process. Final Thoughts: Would absolutely buy again, and will recommend to friends and offer to install on theirs. ***The description calls this a "...Roller String Guide", but does not move in any way. These are static and have no rotation or "rolling". For this price, it shouldn't, but that can be misleading.

Perfect Replacement for Charvel Guitars!
I purchased these string trees to fit in a neck that I was doing a hardware swap on from chrome to gold. The quality and fit is perfect! The finish matches nicely with the rest of the gold accents. You'd never know it wasn't OEM!

Cool Little Tree But A Pain To Install
They work well but have a small pin on the bottom right next to the install hole. So, you have to drill 2 different holes, one for the pin, one for the mount. These are right next to each other (About 1mm) leaving insufficient space between them. When you run the screws in, the threads can chew up the wood between the holes. Go with an old school tree or the roller type.

Cheap and good looking.
Easy and inexpensive upgrade for the crappy part that came on my Squier strat.

Wrong screws
Screws are not the right size for a Fender Stratocaster with existing holes.

Not Rollers
These do not roll defective or false advertising. Even Tried grabbing it with pliers to rotate, won't budge.
