The tips of my fingers were definitely submerged, albeit just for a fraction of a second. The only wetness I've encountered inside the glove has been from perspiration. The gloves are comfortable and sufficiently warm. Shop around, some places will sell a particular size/color for much cheaper. I would have preferred green or clay, but I managed to get a black pair in XL for under $13, and I couldn't pass up that deal.I am downgrading this review after a year. These gloves did not hold up as well as expected and because they do not breathe, they developed a sweat odor inside that will not go away with washing. I still rate them four stars, despite the fact that they wear out, because in the past I was buying new pairs of other brands' gloves at least every year, if not more often. I live and work on a farm, and I use these gloves in the winter when filling water troughs, hauling water buckets, draining hoses, and my hands never get wet. They're grippy enough that I can use them when training horses (they don't slip on the reins) and they're warm enough that I can teach horseback riding lessons for hours in them without getting cold.In order for them to be comfortable and breathable, the material they're made of is going to wear out. I completely accept this, and will order again since there are no other gloves on the market that keep my hands warm AND dry when I accidentally dunk my hand in a water bucket in -20ΒΊ windchills... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ great ski gloves *by S***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2012* I purchased these at a garden shop three years ago for skiing. I'm on the ski patrol which requires often carrying heavy equipment, shoveling, moving signs and other work. Regular ski gloves get easily torn apart when using them for real work (e.g. not just holding a ski pole in your hands) and leather gloves get wet. I use these gloves every day I ski and my hands never get wet. I have to take my gloves on and off many times a day. These gloves are always dry and comfortable each time I put them on, so they definitely are not wet. The outside of the gloves are becoming a bit frayed, but given the work I do they have held up better than other gloves at many times the price. The closure leaves a bit of the back of my hand exposed which I thought might be a problem, but it never has. I'm buying a second pair just in case I lose these.Update: January 26, 2014This is the only pair of gloves I have used for skiing for 5 years. The right hand glove is now torn a bit on one finger. This is the hand I use to carry my skis, so the ski edges have been hard on that glove. The other glove is still in very good condition. The outside of the glove will get slightly wet in wet conditions, but the inside of the glove still is dry. I still believe these are the best ski gloves I have ever owned in over 50 years of skiing. The newer version of the glove covers the gap on the back of the hand, so now they deserve a 5.
