I purchased this item to solve this problem and it works perfectly. It seals around you eye very well and sticks out a bit further from the camera than the original eyepiece. Others have mentioned having more difficulty seeing the viewfinder display due to the eyepiece being longer but I have not noticed any difference myself. As for build quality, the rubber cup and plastic clip seem to be just as good as the original Sony one. I also found that when I had my glasses on I could still look through the viewfinder by bringing the eyepiece over the top of my glasses. My glasses have a slim frame so this may not work for everyone.
