Is this product anodized?

It's aluminum. So I wouldn't say it's anodized.

Would this work on 1/16" stainless cable? Any difference to the breaking strength instead of stainless ferrules?

I am a rookie at this. Do I need a special tool to crimp with or can muscle/pliers work?

I’m sure that a “plier” type device can be made to work, but I would suggest that you get the proper tool to assure yourself that it’s a safe install . I first bought a fairly large crimping tool from Princess Auto for $39- but yesterday I returned it to buy a smaller but more efficient one from Home Depot for $61. I had about 100 crimps to do and I wanted to make sure they were secure .
