Review: Beast of a roof flat rack! - In July 2024, we will be embarking with friends on our 3rd annual camping trip to the Sequoia forest in central California. I researched and decided to purchase the Thule caprock size L for my 2020 Ford Explorer. I could not find any pictures of this roof rack on a Ford Explorer so I wasn't sure how it was going to fit. The fitment is better than I expected. I'd say it's nearly perfect. To test it, I transported a queen size bed and box spring to my family from LA to the desert on a 213 mile trip. I used retractable ratchet tie downs with eye bolts to strap them down and nothing moved! I drove at 65-68mph. The loudest noise came from the plastic wrap I had the mattress and box spring in when we had it stored. This thing is rock solid. I also used the caprock crossbar kit and love the height. I was worried it would sit high but it doesn't. These flat roof racks are on the more expensive side which could be a con but the quality and craftsmanship of the Thule caprock is impeccable.
