On my hp 4200, i have killed my 64mb ram trying to add a 48mb ram. do you confirm this 128mb can replace my dead ram on my laserjet hp4200 ?

It should. Just try not to get it killed again :)

Hp 4100 has 4 slots. manual says not to remove lowest slot 1. it's 16 mb. why? this keeps me from putting in full 256 mb.

HP incorporates and stores software need by the printer in a portion of the first memory module. Removing this module or placing in a slot other than 1 will make the printer inoperable in most models.
