It's somewhat educational as it uses story lines with actual sea creatures and gives in depth insight into the characteristics of many of these unique creatures, which at times are rare and almost unheard of. Many living in the mysterious "Midnight Zone" of the ocean/sea. 3 stars for educational purposes, 2 stars for keeping my daughter interested in the story line, time and time again as she waits to see the photos of the real life sea creatures which were characterized/depicted in the episode. Cute toys with dvd set!!!
This dvd set is so cool because it comes with a few toys!!! I used them for cake toppers on my son’s birthday cake. He was super excited when he saw it!

Fun but secretly educational
My 4 year old boy-girl twins are now obsessed with this and they know about algal blooms, tons of marine animals and fish, etc. It’s like I have two marine biologists at home now but it’s just a side benefit because they have fun. This is the best kids show bar none and the toys are an added bonus!

If your kid fell in love with the version on Netflix with a Mexican voice for Peso and the creature report song at the end and are distraught that all you can find on YouTube is the British Peso and no Creature Report then REJOICE! this version has the Mexican Peso (which to be fair is not the original, but it's the one we're used to in Canada) and the catchy Creature Report song at the end of each episode.

Octonauts are the best. Adventure and education together. My kids can tell me about almost every sea creature, the ocean ecosystems and more! Also the characters have excellent manners and behaviour, which my kids mimic.
