However, leaving aside their claim (it may be legally tolerated as 'advertising puff') the disparity in these measurements can usually be traced to the methods used for testing - you can test the output of a single LED on test and multiply by the number of LEDs in the array and get a very different answer to testing the assembled array under normal operating conditions. The output is affected by the current control circuitry, temperature, pulse width etc. I would advise that you buy one and see how it performs in your situation. I have personally tested a 'brighter' led with a photographers light meter and found it to be less bright than one with a lower stated output (under identical conditions of course). **Q: 3 year warranty bulb only lasted 3 months how do i get a replacement** A: I have not had a failure of the standard non dimmable bulbs in 6 months but the dimmable ones are hopeless - had 3 fail in 6 months. Perhaps you require something other than a standard dimmer to drive them ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Dim? *by J***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 February 2013* In terms of brightness, they are excellent in easily matching a 50/60w 'normal' bulb whilst saving buckets of energy, although I don't like the fact that LED's are so eye scorchingly bright that I fear that my baby's eyes might be damaged by staring at them.I can't say how long they last, but I shall report back when the first one blows.My major caveat is that they only dim to about 80%, which is not 'dim' to me, but 'slightly less bright!' so a romantic dining-room-setting is most definitely out of the question. This leads to the obvious question of 'where does one need a downlighter which dims to a slightly less bright degree?' I've only changed one of the five lamps I have in the kitchen so far, just as a comparative test, but I think I will go ahead and replace the remaining lamps with these too. I hadn't appreciated how uneven the halogen lighting was until I fitted this replacement. While there are places in the kitchen which are undoubtedly very brightly lit, there are also areas that are darker than directly beneath this LED. I'm expecting that when I've changed all the fixtures to LED the lighting will be much more even.
