HUGE NOTE - "made punctually by CNC" means "we build it when you order it" !Oh and its really good!
OK so this is a bit of a read but bear with me. The TL:DR for those who can feel the vibe here is - this thing is ridiculous for the price, and you WILL get it within a couple weeks, do NOT wait for it to be "in stock". I don't know why this company hasnt acquired some local US representation to fix the listing(s) and hype these guitars, but for real, I am available and based on this guitar I can 1000% stand behind it, Hit me up. But seriously. I had been looking at this listing for awhile, as I am a 7 string fan and wanted to try a multiscale but had nothing local to try. I watched this thing for months and it was always "temporarily" out of stock. But in the back of my brain, the phrase "made punctually by CNC" ate away at me. What does this mean? I asked myself. "Punctually" means "on time". By CNC means by Computer Numeric Control machining, which is how all guitars are made aside from verrry high end masterbuilt stuff thats several thousand USD. I started wondering, what if "made punctually" means "we dont make it until you order it". So I placed an order on November 23, just to see what happened. It sat with no change until Nov 26, when it changed to "Arriving Mon, Dec 2" but did not actually show as having shipped. December 2, it changed to "we will email you when we know", and coming to the main Amazon site initiated a prompt to cancel or wait until it was updated, or 30 days passed. I chose to wait. The next day, Dec 3, it was updated with shipping information that checked out at the carrier site, showed as shipped in the Amazon system, and had an arrival date of Dec 8. Between Dec 4 and 6, it progressed across the country as you'd expect, but I was surprised this morning (Dec 6) to see that it had arrived at and was dispatched from my local USPS to be delivered. It was then indeed, delivered by USPS around noon. So, the guitar. It is allllmost exactly as pictured, with the exception of the back and sides, which on this one are finished in the same semi-transparent green as the top. The top is flamed maple, with a matching headstock, and the finish is satin/matte, which I actually greatly prefer but is different from the pictures. The neck is an actual 5 piece, and it feels ridiculously good. At least as good as guitars several times it's price. It is well finished also in a matte/natural feel, with a wider thin-c type shape. Thinner overall than a JS22-7 but with a wider profile, almost like a Classical if it wasnt superchunk style. It feels very good to play. The fret ends were not sharp, and the frets are well seated across the neck. They were a bit scratchy feeling, but a quick kiss from some 2500 grit fixed that up in minutes. I cant play nickel without terrrrrrible allergies so I had to restring it with Cobalt, and in my much higher preffered tension guage of 11-62, which required a bit more relief to clear the buzz from the lower positions, and then the saddles came down a good bit lower than the stock setup for an overall action that is just ridiculously good, better than a lot of 6's I have played and own, and embarrasing to other 7s in this price range. I am not even kidding here, you'd have to get into some 1000+ USD range to match this. The intonation. Granted, I have not played any multiscale guitars before this, so maybe it's a funtion of that but again, this thing was dead easy to intonate perfectly, and I mean it's better than any 25.5, and it's better than any 27 I have personally tried. The resonance between the lowest 3 strings, which has always been a little sketchy at best even with a 27, is perfect on this, and you can really feel it when you crank the heck out of it and hit some low chords n chugs, theres no wobble to it at all, its just solid and awesome. And this is with the stock pickups, which have no markings and all I can say for sure is they are passive. I have an array of pups to try, will be fun to see what works best. I'll have to update this on tuning stability, since I changed the string right out of the box they are still settling in. The finish is not perfect, but it is dang good for the price range. Weight and balance are about the same as my poplar Dinky 6's, likely aided by the carved top, which is of the "shave down a normal body" style ala Ibanez S/JS and Jackson Stealth, rather than the "add a big cap of carved maple to a normal body" style of say, a Jackson USA Soloist or old school Les Paul. Overall, well I mean dang, there is nothing approaching this in its price range. The best 7 string for anywhere near this price has been the Jackson JS22-7, of which I have 2 (an OG matte and a newer gloss) and this is leagues better than those. The closest aside from that (that I have played/owned) is an older Ibanez RG7321, which was around 350, and this also destroys that one handily. It's a multiscale, 7 string, with a 5 piece/thin profile neck, with better fretwork out of the box than most bigger names, for a ridiculously good price. The listing is wierd, the buying/shipping was wierd, but WELL worth it for the result. The one thing I do NOT like is the positioning of the pickup switch, which is way too close to the volume knob, such that quickly rolling the volume down (as we tend to do alot in metal) will cause my hand to hit the switch and put it in the middle position. For everything else it does right, Ill deal with this and call it a win anyway. I'd give this 15 out of 5 stars if I could.

Not the same guitar in the listing photos.
IYV is a Vietnamese manufacturer that makes a number of Harley Benton models. That said, this must have been a factory second that should t have left the factory. There are a large number of finish issues, including overspray and scratches/pitting all over the guitar. The listing was for a model with a naturally finished back, gloss coat and binding. What was provided was a single color stained body with a very thin matte clear coat. There is no binding and the highly figured top in the photo is not present. Setup wise, there is fret buzz through the top three strings due to the feet's not being properly leveled. Neck has proper relief, so I will be leveling the frets. No sharp fret ends, though. Component-wise, the pickups are generic soap bar pickups. I would say they are medium output passives. Sound ok through my interface when using an amp sim and there are no grounding issues. Dime pots and an enclosed three way switch will be swapped out when I put some Seymour Duncans in. Amazon gave me a 25% credit when I contacted them as I would need to repair a couple of items, but keep in mind that it can only be applied for items sold by them as well. This made the credit unusable for me as the parts I needed were all third party sellers on the site. Amazon really needs to change the photos for this listing and correct the details as what you are getting is much more intro range and in line with the $180 it cost. If you have some luthiery skills, the. It is a cheap way to try fan fret/multi scale.

Seems pretty good to me…
Ive been playing for about 20 years as a casual “bedroom” player. I lean pretty far into metal music and the many different styles of playing that realm and all of its subgenres bring so I am all about the riff, the chug, the shred, and the tap tap tappies all in the comfort of my PJs… That said, I bought this guitar to dabble into extended range territory but not get too far ahead of myself with an 8+ string guitar. Ive been listening to a ton of Nevermore lately so wanted an easy and accessible approach to pickup a 7 string thinking Id just buy something that seemed decent with the plan to modify and upgrade as time went on. Never played a fan fret guitar either so this was a very attractive purchase for my intentions. Anyways - I got this in today and am pleasantly surprised. I was able to plug and play with minor setup. A little fret buzz but I never expected to not tune this thing up my way anyway so it was always expected. Action on this is low and there really is nothing stopping you from shredding on this. The neck is fast and I was surprised that the fan fret came pretty natural for playing up and down the neck. I dont feel much difference between my playing the fan fret and a standard fret guitar other than it looks sick!! Overall the build quality feels and looks solid and sturdy. It has a light weight feel to it too. I think I may move the strap button to the back of the guitar. It doesnt seem to have much bite where it is now. If you’re looking for a glossy, polished, and finely crafted guitar, this ain’t it. But if your expectations are, “I just want something affordable to get into and play, that I could upgrade later, and that’s built solid enough to rip on right out of the box,” this is a good option. If you gotta have the polished neck and body and you are not hesitant on handling this yourself, this also checks out as a great option. (Initial test was through an Orange Micro Dark Terror with a Tube Screamer to boost the preamp that feeds into a 1x10 cab - I can confirm it rips, it chugs, it tippy taps taps, it squeels, and it EeeEeeeEeeeeeees…) Modification plan (…not in order…): 1. Change strings to Ernie Balls and run a meaty meat 7th string for added meat 2. Sand and polish the neck 3. Sand and polish body 4. Swap tuners for locking tuners 5. Upgrade to EMG actives for some mega chug meltdowns

Muy buena para el precio de venta.
Sonido bueno, ajuste bueno. Solo el acabado esta un poco malo. Pero no le puedes exigir más por el precio que se paga por esta guitarra. Le voy a hacer unos retoques en el acabado de la pintura y estará perfecta.

A mid range guitar on a budget you dont have to worry about babying
This guitar is definately at the mid level, but at a budget price. Im getting used to the fanned fretboard but Ive noticed its not as rough on my hand as a regular fretboard is. Includes the tools to adjust the string saddles and the truss rod. The neck on mine was about perfect, and the low B string needed to come dowm just a half turn at the saddle. Pick ups sound similar to the seymour duncan distortion pick ups, but alittle more noisey. If you play metal, death metal, or deathcore just turn the gain down a little and turn the tone knob down enough that you still get harmonics. Warms right up. Highly recommend. Body only had 2 imperfections i only noticed looking in sunlight. It doesnt matter, at the price alittle wear and tear will do it good. I love it.

Nothing like it shows in the ad
Just received this! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐for false advertising IYV🤣. Flame top, binding & wood colored back are non existent. It's a 200 dollar guitar I know but 😒. The pros plays very well stays in tune without any set up I'll let You know how it goes. The cons Fret buzz, very raspy potentiometers, rough sanding marks where the binding is supposed to be. The guitar was covered with sand/saw dust material in the box. Nothing that can't be fixed with a good set up and Fret job. Al in all it's a good modding platform.

My fourth IYV. All play great. All have minor flaws. All punch well above their price point if you can get past minor cosmetic flaws. I just got her in today, tuned her and let it rip and no suprise she sounded and played great. Tomorrow she gets a thorough cleaning and new strings and we are good to go.

Disappointed in the build and design, but still want IVY to keep trying!
I like IVY guitars (and for the record they provided a full refund on this), and I fully understand the "what do you expect, it's a budget guitar" thought, but this was a disaster. I was super excited about getting a fan fret, 7-string. I was ready to love this thing and learn some different approaches to my playing. This was probably the lowest quality build I've experienced down my rabbit hole of trying out budget guitars (I did get a very low quality Khaxton strat style). It was poorly painted, poorly designed, and put together (the neck was totally off line) in such a way you couldn't even work with it. I write this in the spirit of supporting consumers, but also balancing it with wanting to support IVY to keep trying. This could be a best seller in its class. They're innovating on designs, and they do make a lot of killer guitars for the price range.
