Needle Lace Techniques for Hand Embroidery

3.5 Stars - for a small, but rather key issue, at least to my mind.GREAT for beginners, like myself. The instructions are clear, and the illustrations are a major, seriously major help as well. Very clear and easy to follow.My only problem is the lack of suggestions/instructions on what fabrics to use while stitching , how to make a cordennet, and other odds and ends such as finishing, washing, what to do when you run out of thread, and making the scaffold or sandwich.This book is so easy to follow but it is clearly meant to be used as a reference. The most information provided is size of the needle and what type of thread to use. The entire book is made up of stitching instructions (again, not a bad thing). Granted, I have other embroidery books to help me start up and making the scaffold is easy enough, but I think the omission of such important information is unfortunate for a complete beginner and should be considered for the next edition.Didnt help that the book was released just days before I bought it and so I'm the first to review. :P

This book is printed on one side only of the paper, which is both incredibly wasteful and frustrating. It is frustrating because, while this book has lovely diagrams in it, there is not a single photograph of the actual work. So you have no idea if you are doing it right or not.Additionally, on the contents page, it basically says that the book is based on another book, by T.H. de Dillmont, called the DMC Library Encyclopedia of Needlework and even kindly gives the ISBN of that book. Except it isn't the ISBN of that book, it is the ISBN of the book in which it is printed.The Dillmont book is available through Amazon, used. Buy that book.

It’s perfect ! It is everything I need to improve some stitches

El libro contiene puros diagramas, sin nada que ver con las imágenes de bordado que acompañan la portada. Pueden ser útiles esos diagramas, pero nada que ver con el bordado. No se puede abrir el link que acompaña a la edición. Muy limitado para mi gusto.

Le livre est en anglais, cela explique les 4 étoiles. A la recherche constante de nouveaux livres et techniques, ce livre acquis en 2017 est très intéressant quand on souhaite apprendre la dentelle à l'aiguille. Les images et les explications sont claires, un niveau d'anglais est comme même requis et pour les néophytes, ma fois, il y a un commencement à tout. Je le trouve intéressant.

A book she wanted, and was very pleased to get. From my perspective, it's a five-star product.

I have done needle lace in the past. This book is useful for remembering how to do the stitches and useful for giving a different look to projects.

I look forward to trying some of the projects in this book. The directions are easy to follow and there is a wonderful variety of laces etc. to keep ones interest.
