Most of material are electronic nowadays. But I always love to have a paper trail.

Am I the only one who has loved Cengage lately? Great book so far. If the later chapters are as detailed as the first few, then amazing! "Vocab" words are highlighted, and then a section on the side of the page has the definition too. "Large" words (eg. ubiquitous) have definitions. Great work Cengage!

Thankfully amazon has samples of their eTextbooks. This sample had poor resolution of figures/graphics on pages 5, 13, 14, 32, 33, 48 when viewed with Kindle for PC. As such, I bought the textbook for class and corresponding pages are sharp. I wouldn't get eTextbook for this one until possible digital rendering issue fixed.

The first rental smelled so terrible of smoke that I literally couldn't use it. I had it away from me at the table and it was overwhelming. When I was done doing my homework my hands smelled like cigarettes. I had to put it in a box outside until I could send it back and I ordered a new one. New one is great, barely used. The textbook content is not bad as well, I really like the images it provides of the diagrams.

The book is in perfect condition, as to be expected with a new book. There are no access codes for Cengage products included, but that is because all of those cost much more than this book.

It presents as "light" in content but is actually a very robust and accessible text for a first database class at almost any level.

Buen libro

I got this for Uni but I can definitely see myself coming back to this when in the industry. It's written in an easy to understand and logical way which makes study a lot easier.

This is identical to the text book, but for a fraction of the price. Great find!

This is book is cheaper than buying from BCIT (BC, Canada).

This is a textbook. It is NOT reference material, although you could find plenty of facts on the margin notes. Textbooks start from scratch on every chapter, they define the terms and vocabulary used throughout the material. Every single concept is defined and explained with a few examples. So yes, it is verbose if you have some knowledge of the topic. If my grandma wanted to be a DBA this is the book she will have to read from cover to cover and when finishing it she will be able to fend off a job interview quite well! As a textbook it is a very good book. And all the negative properties of textbooks apply to this as well, so YMMV.
