The units do spin very nicely. RPM? Strange request, since this is typically just an educational science project for kids to help them grasp magnetic field effects by building a motor and pondering it a bit. Far more memorable than looking a pages in a textbook. I have a signal counter but it would be a project to set up to measure frequency.. and the frequency (RPM) would be very voltage dependent. Perhaps you are stuck in analysis paralysis?
