Decent… rod snapped
Felt nice when I first got it. Used it a few times. The hand placement felt off to me for where the reel sits but I was able to adjust to it. Rod snapped on me maybe the fourth time I was out. Wouldn’t buy again

Sturdy and fool proof
I have used lightning rods for many years as an addition to my rod arsenal. I have other, much more expensive, rods, but will always have lightening rods. They are responsive, sturdy and are the "TIMEX" of fishing rods. They WILL take a lickin and keep on tickin!!

Missing pieces/ no refund
The first time I ordered this pole and reel combo only the top half of the pole came broken in a bag. The second replacement pole and reel came the next day and it was missing the nut to hold the handle on the real. And on top of everything I sent both packages back and never received my refund.

Great rod & reel for the price
Aside the fact that it came in a bot 4 times to large and was not in my opinion sturdy enough to protect the product. The Rod & Reel came in tact with no damage and i took it out to the lake the next day and it worked like a charm. Had no issues using it and was even able to land some red fish and channel catfish with it

Great 1st impression!
I just ordered 4 of these rods for my kids to use on the Kayaks. Didn't want them to drop my expensive ones overboard but wouldn't fret much if they dropped a $60 rig. They arrived today and I have to say that I'm amazed by my first impression of them. They are well crafted with good fit and finish. I ordered the medium-light models and they are pretty true in action with what I'd call 'fast action" tips. I can't speak to performance yet, but have no reason to believe they won't perform as well as they look.

The reel
We used the rod for an hour . Was great . Then the handle on the reel fell apart . Love the rod only.

Review of Berkeley Fishing Rod: Counterfeit Concerns
I recently purchased what I believed to be an authentic Berkeley fishing rod through Amazon, but my experience raised significant concerns about its authenticity. Upon comparing the rod I received with the original Berkeley rod, several discrepancies became evident. First and foremost, the spool rating is a major red flag. The rod I received from Amazon is rated for 8 lbs, while the genuine Berkeley rod is only rated for 4 lbs. This difference suggests that the Amazon version is designed for heavier use, which contradicts the specifications of the original product. Additionally, the physical characteristics of the rods differ. The Amazon version is noticeably thinner compared to the authentic Berkeley rod. This difference in thickness not only affects the rod's performance but also raises questions about its durability and reliability. Lastly, the origin of the rods adds another layer of concern. The original Berkeley rod is proudly made in the USA, reflecting the brand's commitment to quality. In contrast, the rod I received from Amazon was labeled as made in China, which is often associated with lower quality control standards. In conclusion, based on these discrepancies—spool ratings, physical dimensions, and manufacturing origins—I believe the Berkeley fishing rod I received from Amazon is counterfeit. I recommend buyers exercise caution and verify the authenticity of their purchases to ensure they are getting the quality they expect from a reputable brand like Berkeley. Furthermore, it's important to note that a thinner rod typically cannot support a higher lbs rating without compromising its structural integrity. Thinner materials are less capable of withstanding the forces associated with heavier loads, which means that a rod rated for 8 lbs should logically be thicker to handle that weight effectively. The fact that the Amazon version is thinner yet rated for a higher capacity further undermines its credibility and raises serious questions about its design and safety. This inconsistency is another key indicator that the rod may not be an authentic Berkeley product, as genuine rods are engineered to meet specific performance standards.
