The Lighthouse Murder: A Murder Mystery Game | Can You Solve a Murder Mystery?

I’ve never before done one of these true crime murder mystery games before. The way they set this up, it feels almost official. I loved tearing open the classified envelope to empty out all of the case information - felt like a detective. The newspaper included is a fun touch, and I enjoyed all the different audio interviews available with witnesses. There are so many different avenues to explore in this game, there was never a dull moment. It felt like I was always moving forward in the case somehow and always putting together new and helpful information. Definitely a fun game for one person or several.

The game would be great if you had access to the website that had crucial clues to finding the murderer. This is the second one of these games we have tried by this creator that had broken links to websites needed to solve the mystery. We will be trying games from a different creator in the future.

My family has solved many of these cold case mystery games in the past and always look forward to trying a new one. This mystery has a fun podcast-style introduction and conclusion that is reminiscent of "Only Murders in the Building." This mystery is purely data analysis and doesn't utilize any puzzle-solving or rely on visual evidence to analyze. The materials provided are high-quality and easy to read. The podcast recordings could be further refined to eliminate vocal stumbling and add music for a more polished presentation, but we had a good time with this game nonetheless. Recommended.

I spent about an hour and a half on this mystery. I had fun reading everything and trying to solve it, but I think that $29 is way too pricy for what is offered, there is not that much content (and the voice acting is hilariously cringey). It can only be played one time (unless you have a bad memory).

I played this game with my husband and one of my children. It was a nice way to wind down the night and spend some time together. It comes with some evidence pieces to go through, and even has a "podcast" for the investigation that you can listen to for further clues (in my video you can sort of hear part of that and see a little bit of the information you receive). Together, you can put together the clues to figure out who the murderer is. My only issue with this, is that in the recordings, the quality was different for all the people who spoke, including a woman you could barely hear even with the sound all the way up. Also, the editing job was bad, as they had to correct things they said about 8 different times! They really should have cut the mess-ups out. Also, things online were spelled differently than some of the evidence pieces spelled it (last names and such). Despite that, we had a good time and it was a fun story to learn about!

I don't think a prior reviewer understands the podcast thing. It's fictional and part of the theme. The instructions in the introduction book ask you to go to a WWW page thelighthousemurder dot come From there you begin by listening to a "podcast" audio clip From "Forrest City True Crime Podcast". It's just an introduction and is fictional. You will need internet access to listen to this and other audio clips, including the solution. Can't wait to finish it.

Don't buy this! Online clues and phone numbers have been taken down. There are two clues in the game that you can interact with. One is a phone number that has been disconnected since the game was released. The other is a website with a crucial clue. While it is possible to solve the mystery without these clues, we couldn't do it. It's a great series but unfortunately not as playable as it should be without access to these clues. And honestly simply not as fun.
