The bike had been sitting in some chaps garage, having last been used in 1997, so some 21 years ago. The tank still had the remnants of fuel swilling about in the bottom, and a lot of thick rust. After draining the tank, the amount of rust and debris that came out was considerable, I really didn't think anything was going to shift the thick looking rust. However, after finding comments on the Internet regarding Rostio, I went looking for it and found it here on desertcart. It arrived in less than 1 week, very well packaged (and including comprehensive instructions) from the suppliers in Germany. Having already flushed the tank out with water to remove as much of the loose debris as possible, I added the Rostio solution, and an extra 9 litres of hot water. I fully intended leaving it for 5 or 6 days as the rust was so bad, but after only a couple of days you could see that a lot of the rust had gone. The only issue I had was that the 10 litres of fluid was not enough to fill the tank, so you could now see a tide mark of rust. I considered what to do and thought that I would just fill the tank with more hot water, and despite diluting the solution, just leave it a few more days to see what happened. After 2 more days the tide mark had gone, as had the rust! I drained the solution out, and flushed through with plenty of cold water, having removed the bungs for the fuel tap and sender, so I could really get as much out as possible. I then popped them back in and added the Rostio sealer. I gave the tank a good shake around for at least 5 minutes, so all of the inside of the tank was covered and then drained it out. Having left the tank to dry for a couple of days, you can see that the surface of the inside of the tank looks like grey metal. There's no sign of the rust at all ! Overall, I'm very pleased with the product. The supplier was first class, the product easy to use, and the results better than I expected. I will most certainly use them again with whatever is my next restoration job! Review: Brilliant stuff - Really amazing results. Had to buy second hand fuel tank for 30 year old bike but when came looked rather rusty inside. Cleaned out then applied this stuff for half day each way up (cos it didn’t fill the tank). And voila beautiful clean rust free tank. Applied emulsion so now sealed A few days on looking good as new. Also saved used mix and reused for another tank. Just wondering how far it will go. Of the three other holes, the two smaller breather holes I taped up with Duck tape (although there was some slight leakage when sloshing the solution around), for the remaining main fuel filler hole, I replaced the main filler tube and then plugged this with an upturned aerosol canister (WD40 was the perfect job!) **Q: Do you have to remove the fuel cocks and filters from the tank before using the de-rusting concentrate or the rust inhibitor?** A: I removed the fuel tap and filter from my motorbike tank. The mixture of both the deruster and sealer is low viscosity but any rust or dirt is sure to clog the filter and possibly the tap. **Q: is rostio ethanol resistant** A: Not for me it wasn't, pealed off within weeks. Others say it's fantastic! **Q: How long can you leave the tank empty after treatment?** A: I can only answer based upon my experience. I left the tank empty for a few weeks whilst I got it ready to be painted. The caveat I have now with Rostio is that it didn't seal my tank very well. The rust was so bad a few pin holes had developed in it. You couldn't see them, so I painted the tank, and fitted it a couple of weeks later. About 5 days later, 3 or 4 1 to 2 inch bubbles had occurred under my shiny new paint :-( I had to strip it all again, and then re-seal the inside of the tank with POR-15 - which sorted the pin holes out. Tank repainted and no bubbles.
