How does it attach to a roof rack?

It comes with "L" brackets to mount it. You may need to modify them or come up with something completely different depending on your rack.

Does this awning have tracks on both ends for mounting an awning room?

On the ends, yes. But on the sides there is just extension poles to attach "wall panels" to.

Is the awning retractable and able to use shorter pull out length,such as 8ft instead of 10ft if space is limited, or do you roll it out of the bag?

The awning is not retractable. It rolls out of the bag and had to be extended completely in order for the support posts to clip in. The height is adjustable but not the width. It is a nice product for the money!
