Can I use this to cut 5.5 inch dense styrofoam crown moulding?

No, it will only cut items up to a width of the razor blade that is used. Maximum thickness is not much more than 1/4 inch for most materials, even pushing that if they are hard

Would this item be capable of cutting 1/8" plastic if the plastic part is cut first on one side and then turned over to cut the opposite side?

If the plastic is not too dense no need to turn over. I have cut 1/8" styrene
