The wider platform is great for stability and means that the weigh results don't go up and down trying to guage the right weight. A bit expensive - but I have had 2 cheaper scales now and both have been rubbish. My one criticism of the makers is that they should have backlit the display so that the figures are easily visible - but if you have a well lit bathroom, then there is no problem.
